With health trends and regulations constantly evolving, our BtoB customers need a partner they can trust to help develop new products that address shifting taste, health and sustainability needs. Currently we are looking for a Marketing Leader who can transform the way our customers care about the Technical Excellence and capabilities we offer!

What does our Global Category Marketing Leader do?

This role takes the lead to define and implement plans to advance Bunge's performance in strategic categories in our product portfolio and business growth aspirations. Enable commercial success by identifying areas and tactics for efficient growth, develop strategic choice frameworks, innovation roadmaps, demand creation programs, and launch plans to achieve that growth. The success of this position lies in accelerated business results in selected categories, and raised company profile and reputation in specialty ingredient offerings and capabilities, as well as an improved customer experience, return on marketing investment, and acceleration of new innovation projects. This can be explained in 3 key responsibility areas:

DEFINE 'WHERE TO PLAY, HOW TO WIN'

  • Conduct market sizing and profit pool analysis to find opportunity spaces (segments, channels, regions, applications), and perform competitive analysis. This includes product portfolios, sales/marketing tactics, strategic ambitions, capacity and capabilities, and customer perception.
  • Introduce and use consistent methodologies and frameworks to establish a routine approach to category assessment and decision-making.
  • Lead go-to-market activities, sales training and commercial guidance on goals and outcomes of category strategies.

DRIVE INNOVATION

  • Use customer-back methods to determine regional challenges and needs; facilitate workshops and conduct market research.
  • With Innovation, prioritize development projects based on agreed criteria; support execution of projects and participate in stage gate and PMO processes.
  • Prepare new product launch plans; coordinate commercialization and marketing plans; set success and financial targets and budget for resourcing needs to support workstreams.

CREATE DEMAND/GROWTH

  • Play an active role in account planning, customer mapping, and new business pitching with Sales and Tech Service groups, nurturing zippered relationships with customer marketing, innovation and strategy teams.
  • Change and reinforce Bunge's reputation as a specialty ingredient leader with tactics and content that emphasize our core capabilities as well as peripheral services
  • In collaboration with Global Marketing Communications, design campaigns and lead generation activities to create demand among existing customers and new prospects.

What to bring to the role?

The effective candidate in this highly matrixed position, is an influential leader who excels at building and nurturing relationships. They can harness capabilities from across the organization to set priorities that take into consideration both global and regional activities and business objectives. Being excellent at listening and having persuasive interpersonal skills are required to optimally collaborate with diverse partners. The ability to navigate in an ambiguous and complex environment, combined with strongly developed project management skills, including experience in financial modeling and P&L management, will support to prioritize and handle multiple initiatives concurrently. Synthesizing a global approach to enhance efficiency and consistency, while preserving the agility of regional commercial and technical functions is key. This requires a detailed and analytical understanding of how to lead an end-to-end strategic process and how to engage and activate internal partners, as well as external parties. Also:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science or related relevant field. MBA and project management certification is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in corporate strategy, brand management or business development positions, preferably in a B2B food company.
  • Knowledge of food and agricultural supply chains and food production is essential, plus having worked in diverse cultural environments and in the specialty food ingredients sector will be advantage.
  • Proficiency in languages beyond English is beneficial

This role ideally is based in Zaandam, near Amsterdam in The Netherlands, but may also be based in St. Louis, US. Other locations worldwide may be considered. The availability to travel is required (up to 40%).
