Global Commodities Analyst

Job Description:

Accountable for providing guidance, counsel, insights and analysis on commodities hedging P&L to ensure high quality decision making and a strong controls environment. Responsibilities include governance and control, reporting, analysis and planning of commercial commodities demand, commodities hedging gains & losses, and forecasting P&L impact for a global group of Commodities that are part of the hedging portfolio.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelors Degree - Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business administration or similar.
• Minimum 5+ years accounting experience.
• Understanding of general accounting concepts; knowledge of debits/credits, assets/liabilities, Balance Sheet and P&L. Strong mathematical and analytical skills including the ability to interpret financial information.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with an attitude high in customer service.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel Word, Power Point.
• Familiar with digital tools such as Microsoft Power Apps, Power BI, Alteryx.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Partners with Commercial on the information needed to forecast hedging gains and losses, provides needed information across functions for planning and budget setting purposes. Demonstrate leadership and provide a point of contact for KPI and financial reporting requirements and period close functions.
• Responsible for using insights derived from understanding of the commodity risk management process to support ensuring a high quality and robust controls environment is in place over all activity.
• Responsible for answering ad-hoc queries to enable full understanding at a unit level of commodity results throughout the year. This involves explaining complex topics like direct accounting, commodity price risk management and derivative hedging to associates across business units in a clear and understandable way.
• Responsible for journal entry, reconciliation and maintaining GL accounts regarding hedging gains and losses, deferred gains and losses, and broker payable/receivable at period close along with the subsequent reporting and analysis related to all commodities hedging P&L.
• Increase efficiency and control by using intuitive and automated models and databases where possible.
• Complete special projects as identified each year to meet annual objectives in line with the treasury strategy. Proactively addresses issues and recommends opportunities for improvement.
