The job holder is the GlobalDeployment Program Leaderworking within the Central R&D team, responsible for advancing technical readiness to accelerate the deployment of opportunities in support of the Pet Nutrition business. This job will achieve through effective collaboration and engagement of key cross-functional stakeholders at production source and receiving markets. A critical capability within the Global deployment model in Pet Nutrition is the ability to launch products in new markets. Creates new international supply chains that require the collaboration of Global R&D and Supply functions together with regional stakeholders. This role represents Central R&D in this forum and is accountable for the R&D activities associated with these projects.

Key Responsibilities

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Accountable to deliver on time, in full, Global Affiliate R&D activities with a sourcing location in North America to advance technical readiness of innovation for follower units.
  • Collects, consolidates, and analyzes deployment unit relevant information to inform affiliate projects.
  • Brings global perspective on potential design limitations and hurdles for deploying market and leads the Viability and Feasibility risk assessment (including raw material availability and registration, product performance, regulatory, claims risk assessment, CAB requirements, etc)
  • Responsible to assist direct reports in creating the learning plan against regional hurdles/needs and proactively complements those plans in alignment with follower units accrodingly.
  • Accountable through direct reports for the delivery of R&D deliverables in affiliate projects with the partnership with regional R&D.
  • Responsible to support brands expansions, transfers of new product and technologies with a sourcing location outside of North America in line with demand and business supply initiatives.
  • Responsible to report and present the R&D activities in the Periodical Affiliate forum, calls, and follow up on relevant actions.
  • Responsible to develop and support direct reports in their roles by providing decision making, technical expertise, coaching and career assistance.

Context and Scope

1. Role and level of independence (e.g.: general guidelines, detailed instructions etc)

  • High degree of self-autonomy within pre-defined area of responsibility and within the agreed business strategy and processes
  • Motivating, engaging and leading of cross functional project teams in order to deliver agreed project pipeline in agreed timeframe and high quality.
  • Develop internal networks at local, regional and global levels, as a major element of the role is collaboration to influence and support peers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinates technical deliverables within projects In alignment with regional stakeholders and when required executes technical deliverables within projects.
  • Independently runs the personal development (IDP), Merit, approvals and other Line managers tasks for the direct reports.

2. Level of routine (e.g.: familiar or reappearing operations, varying tasks etc)

Low. Each global projects offers a varied set of technical challenges and uncovers different set of complex assessments in each follower region. The job holder must fully understand the current processes overarching global innovation. Also must be functionally skilled to understand the overall interactions of materials, recipe, process, packaging and product design along the entire supply chain.

3. Description of interfaces (e.g.: related departments, customers, suppliers etc)

  • Internal interfaces:
  • R&D: Global, Regional and Site R&D associates, primary connection through Product Design and process technology associates and managers.
  • Marketing: Global, Regional Marketing associates, primary project leads and brand managers.
  • Supply: Global Product Development Supply chain
  • Others: Global and Regional Commercial, Engineering, Supply, Logistics, Activity Management.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement is a graduate in a technical field (Chemical Engineer, Food Technology/Science, etc) with the ability to demonstrate a proven track record in pet food related technologies, with minimum 5 years of R&D working experience. Must speak excellent English

Knowledge / Experience

Good understanding of relevant Pet food manufacturing processes. Including a good understanding of how raw material interacts with manufacturing technologies.

  • Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
  • Proven ability to transfer technical knowledge and skills.
  • Technical Project Management experience and expertise.
  • Line Management experience is preferred.

The ability to work cross time zones is mandatory to perform successfully in this role.

Travel Capability: Ad-hoc global travel might be required. Maximum 3 x international travel yearly.
