Key purpose of the role

The Global Design Manager will support the Global Design Senior Manager in supervising the creative team. The Global Design Manager works within the Global Brand Team; this role entails providing guidance and design expertise for a wide array of projects, spanning from initial concept to final implementation, helping lead the design team to deliver quality projects within set deadlines whilst adhering to established processes. The role is also accountable for promoting and protecting the integrity of the brand across all channels.

Role and responsibilities

  • Assist in the management, development, and mentorship of the creative team.
  • Manage and work with external contract designers. Foster a creative environment that is conducive to design development.
  • Responsible for working closely with internal clients and the brand management team to obtain and translate marketing objectives and campaigns into a design execution.
  • Collaborating with Brand Managers to provide creative solutions, as identified, on high-level, complex projects with key time-zone based stakeholders.
  • Working in collaboration with Brand Managers on firm growth initiatives and brand changeover for incoming firms
  • Collaboration with Brand Managers in conducting brand training presentation to new joiners and incoming firms, outlining design capabilities and process
  • Assist in the development, presentation, and execution of a wide variety of marketing collateral.
  • Monitor and adhere to all privacy, bar association, SLA or anti-spam control and any other legal requirements affecting marketing-related material or initiatives.
  • Encourage great work from the team, influencing change through ideas, creativity, and the full range of traditional and emerging media channels.
  • Learn new skills and stay abreast of developments in the sector.
  • Joint responsibility for the implementation and roll out of brand systems, hierarchies, campaigns, and material.
  • Assist overseeing design project management collaborating with Brand Managers, by tracking and updating on each job through to completion and delivery.
  • Work closely with global marketing services and business development team to encourage and support global initiatives wherever possible.
  • Act as brand ambassador across all channels.
  • Effectively manage resources, budget, and relationships with external suppliers to ensure highest return on budget spent.

Requirements

Qualifications, skills & attributes

  • University degree or university level diploma in graphic and/or web design.
  • Substantial experience at a design firm, agency, or in-house design department. Experience with law firms and professional services firms is a plus.
  • Strong design portfolio (print and web) with 8+ years' experience; previous experience working in a corporate or professional services environment preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of design and applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; Excellent level of computer literacy, proficient in all Microsoft Office.
  • Technical knowledge of printing and online production processes.
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Experience in designing for Global markets.
  • Experience in collaboration, problem-solving and leading cross-functional teams, preferably including a variety of stakeholders, across business functions and levels.
  • Advanced understanding of branding, corporate identity systems and identity application.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver successful brand initiatives from concept through to completion.
  • Excellent presentation skills, verbal and written, to articulate creative concepts, communicate best practice and process.
  • Excellent client management and negotiating skills.
  • Must be team player/leader and be able to supervise multiple people on multiple projects under tight deadlines, across various time zones.
  • Understanding of information design, interface design and interaction design.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to establish good working relationships and promote best practice across all offices and at all levels.
  • Highly organized to successfully manage a varied and sizable workload.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and an understanding of the need for documentation and well-defined procedures.
  • Shows resilience to overcome obstacles to deliver what is required.
  • Well-rounded industry knowledge.
