Position Overview:
Eaton Corporation's Vehicle Group (VG) is seeking a Global Director of Human Resources. This position will report directly to the VP Global Operations. This is a hybrid position based in either Southfield or Galesburg, MI. Alternatively, it can also be based in Cleveland OH with associated commute.
The Global Director Human Resources will directly support the VP of Operations and the VP of Finance, and their teams. This person will deploy large-scale HR initiatives, programs, processes, and transferable practices across the VG global functions, and lead other members of the HR Function in these deployments. This person will provide HR leadership for talent development across all key positions globally in our manufacturing plants.
The Global HR Director will also lead all employee relations, labor relations and ethics concerns for the teams they support directly. In addition, he/she will be responsible for all aspects of the talent development process (OCA) for the VG Operations and Finance functions globally. This person will also coordinate Human Resource Programs and day-to-day personnel activities in accordance with legal, divisional, and corporate guidelines.
This person is also responsible for leading HR for the Michigan Campuses in Galesburg, Marshall and Southfield; serving over 750 employees. The campus HR team serves as a first point of contact for generalist HR functions, leads campus HR orientation, drives campus engagement, and provides Human Resources support to campus activities and improvement initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Vehicle Group leadership team to drive change, align human resources programs and initiatives with strategic objectives and annual business goals
- Drive unified plans with measurable objectives that support business, financial and employee engagement goals
- Lead HR support for Michigan campuses, partnering with HR Directors across the Vehicle Group to ensure alignment
- Drive HR functional excellence through deployment of Eaton programs, ensuring quality of process and content and alignment with the EBS to achieve goals and objectives. Ensure that knowledge retention and sharing mechanisms are developed, continuously improved and sustained
- Lead and develop skills of the Human Resources team to support business initiatives and goals including direct and functional reports. Encourage and drive knowledge retention and best practice sharing across the division
- Build organizational capability through ownership of talent management processes including acquisition, assessment, performance management, employee development, succession planning and retention
- Manage and develop employee compensation/reward and recognition programs, driving pay-for-performance culture aligned with business objectives. Foster a culture of manager ownership and accountability of the employee life cycle.
- Effectively deploy communication plans and utilize assessment tools to determine organizational issues and action plans
- Exemplify and lead Eaton Values/philosophy and continue to be a steward for the Eaton Leadership Model including the attributes of Passion, Accountability, Learning, Transparency, Engagement, and Ethical behavior
- Provide leadership guidance, coaching, and mentoring. Develop and implement solutions to organizational challenges by leading/coaching others through change
- Facilitate a culture where best practices are retained and shared across the VG organization and the business and identify opportunities for sharing between groups
- Benchmark industry and local best practices to set stretch performance targets
- Leads all manufacturing footprint projects from an HR perspective that are cross regional
Position Criteria:
- Demonstrated strategic thinking capability and business acumen; prior leadership experience as a strategic HR business partner.
- Excellent facilitation/ coaching skills. Strong employee relations skills with the proven ability to drive change and leadership ownership/accountability.
- Strong leader of people with proven capability to empower, motivate and develop others
- Strong drive for results and sense of urgency; data and metrics-driven.
- Strong project management skills with ability to lead a cross-functional business team.
- Ability to work in a matrixed environment
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of increasing responsibility in a progressive HR environment supporting global functions and/or manufacturing operations
- Minimum 1 year experience managing and leading teams
- Candidate must be authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship
Education:
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required
- An advanced degree is preferred
