Simtra BioPharma Solutions (Simtra) is a world-class Contract Development Manufacturing Organization, partnering with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to bring their sterile injectable products to market. With facilities in Bloomington, Indiana, US and Halle/Westfalen, Germany, we offer a wide range of delivery systems including pre-filled syringes, liquid/lyophilized vials, diluents for reconstitution, powder-filled vials and sterile crystallization.  

Our product types include biologics and small molecules, cytotoxics, highly potent compounds, diluents for reconstitution and vaccines – which are all directly injected into patients worldwide.  As such, there is a strong emphasis on quality and continuous improvement at Simtra.  We hold ourselves to the highest quality and regulatory standards.

While our primary focus is cGMP manufacturing, we offer many support services including formulation and development, lyophilization optimization, global regulatory support and secondary packaging.  Our teams are driven to help clients scale, innovate and bring life-changing medicines to patients worldwide.

This role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced global leader of talent to join our dynamic team and drive our talent acquisition and talent development efforts during a period of rapid expansion. The successful candidate will take full ownership in shaping organizational strategy, processes, and programs from talent acquisition to talent development, and DEI.

In support of our ambitious growth objectives this role will be pivotal in attracting top-tier talent, implementing innovative approaches, including leveraging GenAI workflows, employer branding and measuring impact.  Although our two primary manufacturing facilities are in Bloomington, Indiana and Halle, Germany, we also hire throughout the U.S and the U.K. for remote positions. Significant expansion of our manufacturing facilities will result in needing a focused, time-bound, and creative approach to attract, retain and develop the best talent. Our business strategy and success are dependent upon landing the right talent at the right time and create impactful learning and development solutions to help our employees learn and grow at all levels of the organization resulting in this position being viewed as a material impact to the business.

This role reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer, will be part of the HR leadership team as well as experience high visibility with the executive leadership team and ownership sponsors.


 

The responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Build talent programs and processes to ensure they are driving impactful outcomes, from our hiring process to our onboarding programs to our L&D offerings
  • Identify key metrics and utilize data driven insights and analytics to optimize processes and drive efficiencies and communicate progress to leadership and the broader team
  • Develop, lead and measure the effectiveness of a comprehensive organizational development, change and effectiveness strategy for the organization, along with the design and delivery of training
  • Identify the needs and priorities of the business and translate them into recruitment, development and training programs
  • Lead cultural integration strategy of new acquisitions and provide input during due diligence
  • Develop and deliver an innovative, global talent attraction strategy – build and enhance the style, functionality & performance and Simtra’s hiring channels
  • In partnership with Marketing, develop highly engaging employer brand initiatives and recruitment campaigns that stand out above the crowd
  • Implement and leverage GenAI workflows and tools to enhance candidate sourcing, screening, and selection processes
  • Build diverse candidate pools, and create initiatives to attract and retain diverse talent
  • Current and accurate compensation benchmarking is critical to balance the cost of labor with the need to attract top talent. Actively partnering with the head of Total Rewards on a regular basis to continue to refine market demands, is essential

This role has three key pillars –

Talent Acquisition

  • Optimize the use of the Greenhouse ATS and manage the integration into Dynamics 365 HRIS
  • Own all hiring processes - setting high standards for speed and quality
  • Continuously review our process to drive improvements and change especially through the use of automation tools
  • Manage global recruiters and ensure that every candidate has a strong experience from start to finish
  • Act as the internal expert in talent acquisition, and also the face of the business on hiring matters in local geographies - ensure the global hiring process is delivered at the highest of standards at all times
  • Ensure we have a diverse and inclusive hiring process
  • Coach hiring managers in recruiting techniques - LinkedIn profiles building, candidate pipeline building, talent spotting, interviewing and assessments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including recruitment agencies, universities, and industry associations, to support talent pipeline development
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in talent acquisition and incorporate them into our practices
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and company policies throughout the recruitment process.

Talent Development, Management, and DEI

  • Select and implement a fit-for-purpose LMS system and manage the integration into Dynamics 365 HRIS – work closely with key stakeholders
  • Lead projects and workstreams in areas of talent management/talent development and partner with HR Directors on change management initiatives, talent reviews and development
  • Create a Talent & DEI strategy and roadmap with specific activities and outcomes based on your assessment, experience and expertise
  • Lead talent reviews and succession planning processes and identify specific learning needs across the organization at various levels
  • Provide strong leadership in Simtra’s culture journey, enabling “One Simtra”, “act like an owner” and building high performing teams
  • Responsible for employee surveys and creating meaningful and measurable actions to support key business drivers
  • Take a lead role in change management and integration activities during acquisitions and company reorganizations

Organizational Development

  • Partner with HR Directors on organizational design and change management
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase organizational effectiveness and partner with HR and business stakeholders to successfully embed into the organization
  • Lead cultural integration during M&A activities

 


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience with a demonstrated track record of success in leadership roles in areas of talent acquisition, learning & development, change management and organizational effectiveness
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of recruitment best practices, processes, and technologies, including experience with GenAI workflows and tools
  • Knowledge of best practices, models and frameworks in talent management, leadership development, change management and organizational effectiveness
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a high-performing team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to think strategically, drive innovation, and execute initiatives to achieve business objectives
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to delivering exceptional results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience working with a global workforce (including hourly employees), strong cultural awareness and effective collaboration and influencing skills at all levels. Global experience focused on European countries, with a preference for Germany
