Job Summary: Reporting the Senior VP of Engineering, Product, Operations, the Global Test Director will Lead Cubic's Verification & Delivery test and support all test activities ensuring test deliverables meet or exceed stakeholder's requirements. Responsible for establishing and operating a world class test function that delivers quality product to Cubic standards. Responsible for ensuring the test assets of the company are appropriately identified, planned, organized, safeguarded and utilized. Manages all test processes and practices across Cubic and will establish the test strategy of the company, ensure that test tools, processes and methodologies are best practice and ensure first class test performance and quality. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defines and implements the test strategy to support Cubic business plans and strategic growth initiatives as part of the wider global Engineering function.
  • Functions as the worldwide leader of the test teams in test areas, facilitating the greater use of that resource globally. Centralizes test where appropriate and improves test capability/automation.
  • Establishes consistent test benchmarking & is aware of industry best practice, and ensures Cubic continually improves.
  • Manages testing groups related to work allocation in order to optimize global staff utilization.
  • Responsible for resourcing and allocating test staff to support projects, services, R&D, and manufacturing operations within the company.
  • Develops the business cases for advancements necessary to update the test practices and keep them current.
  • Leads test advancements in technology, creating best-in-class testing solutions.
  • Works across the test organizations to foster a culture of innovation through talent development and change management efforts. Drives workflow improvements and implements/enables streamlined processes to achieve operational efficiencies.
  • Produces monthly reports to management regarding test performance, issues and opportunities.
  • Consolidates test processes and identifies & proposes improvement ideas with inputs from internal stakeholders and regional teams. Defines the interfaces between test and other operating entities, such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Services, Product Management, and Program Management with the goal of improving efficiency.
  • Leads the drafting and implementation of consistent test policies and procedures worldwide.
  • Leads the designing of test solutions as required in the company's new product lines.
  • Responsible for test projects in support of new business diversifications and expansions.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for estimating testing scope in bids/contracts and managing to agreed test budgets.
  • This is an on-site position at San Diego headquarters.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four year college degree in Engineering or similar discipline, plus at least twelve years' test management experience in a software test environment, and/or the combined equivalent of experience and education. Prior exposure in software design and/or a test qualification is a plus. Test automation and transformation experience across global business environments a big plus. Experience with complex software and hardware based systems a plus. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to perform ground level work as well as coordinate with teammates from remote locations. Ability to work with various functions in a matrix organization, and strong aptitude in influencing change and driving innovation. Must be able to motivate and lead change through creating a clear vision, gaining stakeholder ownership, showing value, and delivering results. Proven record of building and operating high performance teams, growing existing talent and fostering growth and innovation. Ability to inspire set and drive vision for the test organization. Must be available for domestic and international travel, sometimes for extended periods of time up to 20%.

Cubic Pay Range San Diego:

$163,128 - $244,301 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
