WHO YOU ARE
Reporting to the Global Chief Human Resources Officer and a member of the HR Leadership Team, the Head of Total Rewards and Workforce Analytics will have in-depth human resources management experience in a global, highly matrixed, complex business environment. This partner will have deep analytical experience and extensive experience leading teams, demonstrated ability to engage with senior level leaders and executive stakeholders, develop strategic plans, and possess expertise in the re-engineering, simplification and creation of end-to-end total rewards strategies and solutions that effectively support the company's mission and strategic corporate objectives.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This role will lead a global team responsible for directing the planning, design, financial management, communication and administration of executive compensation, broad-based compensation, benefits, and global mobility programs and plans. This is a highly visible senior role which will be accountable for our global Total Rewards strategy and delivering against it. The role will also oversee our Workforce Analytics team which provides people insights to inform HR and business decisions.
Primary duties include:
- Assess current state of organization to identify opportunities to enhance the way in which Northern Trust partners perceive and leverage total rewards offerings, with an eye towards aligning our programs and plans to industry best practices.
- Lead team in preparing for and executing on the successful transition to a new HCM platform (Workday), including implementation of revised job architecture and compensation planning capabilities.
- Have a continuous focus on re-engineering, simplification and digitalization of processes in order to enhance Total Rewards brand and utilization of programs and offerings.
- Engage key stakeholders to prioritize deliverables for the team that will support broader HR priorities and our strategic corporate objectives; oversee successful execution of programs and solutions.
- Partner closely with the DE&I organization to ensure the advancement of our DE&I strategy through Total Rewards programs in support of pay equity and inclusive benefits for our global workforce.
- Function as a strategic business advisor to the Human Capital & Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors and have strong direct interactions with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer related to compensation, benefits, and global mobility topics.
- Oversee annual compensation planning and budgeting process including all forms of compensation for all Northern Trust partners recommending budgets, managing incentive pool allocation, developing manager planning tools, communicating with key stakeholders the planning process, and analyzing and reporting results.
- Oversee regular benefits benchmarking processes and ensure that significant risks and opportunities are identified, and program expense is accurately forecasted based on best available information.
- Have a strong pulse on global immigration laws and regulations to strategically support global mobility of top talent around the company.
- Oversee Workforce Analytics to increase synergies and collaboration on how to leverage data to improve decision making and productivity across the function.
- Responsible for financial and staff planning, including developing and managing capital and expense budgets, and has accountability of performance and profitability of the area.
- Continuously coach, guide, and develop your own direct reports and managers to promote strong engagement and an inclusive and empowered team culture.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Prior experience leading a Total Rewards function in a global Financial Services institution
- Exposure to all aspects of designing, implementing, and administering total reward programs, including pertinent tax, accounting, legal disclosure, vendor selection and management, and regulatory and governance considerations
- Specific and deep knowledge of incentive programs and administration within wealth management sector.
- Previous experience designing and administering executive compensation programs, including presenting to outside directors
- Prior experience with Workday HCM platform highly preferred
- Certification in compensation and/or benefits, preferred
- Highly collaborative with strong relationship management skills and ability to influence across senior stakeholder groups
- Ability to deliver results through others with a keen eye towards quality oversight and execution
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong executive presence
- Demonstrated critical thinking, analytic, leadership and organizational skills
- Agile in approach and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic global work environment
