What you will do

As a Global Mobility Specialist, you will work closely with our global HR, Corporate Tax, Compliance and Legal teams, as well as our third-party tax advisors to administer and comply with effective business travel tax policies and provide tax risk assessments, real time reporting, strategic recommendations to minimize income and corporate tax liabilities.

  • Tax Compliance: Stay updated on U.S. and global tax laws and regulations related to business travel and ensure the firm is compliant with all applicable tax requirements.
  • Policy Adherence and Enforcement: Collaborate with employees and cross functional departments in observance and execution of the firm’s business travel policy to align with both local and international tax regulations.
  • Process Enhancement: Identify manual and repetitive tasks and implement automation solutions to streamline processes, intake of requests, approval workflows, enable dynamic reporting and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Tax Risk Assessment: Analyze business travel activities outside of the policy to identify potential tax risks and offer actionable strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • International Taxation: Provide expert guidance on international business travel tax implications, including permanent establishment risks, tax treaties, secondments, and transfer pricing.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Determine and manage all transactions related to travel, such as shadow payroll, journal entries, tax equalization, and hypothetical tax calculations.
  • Audit Support: Function as the primary point of contact for tax authorities during audits related to business travel, providing necessary documentation, and explanations to support the firm’s tax positions.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with our Tax and Legal teams to address cross-functional tax matters and ensure a comprehensive approach to corporate and income tax compliance.
  • Employee Support: Provide guidance to employees on business travel policy, tax implications, and addressing inquiries. Work to find optimal solutions for the firm and the employee when requests fall outside of the business travel policy.
  • Data and reporting: Collect and analyze data related to business travel, prepare reports, and provide insights to support decision-making and program improvements to Senior Management.
  • Industry trends: Keep abreast of industry developments and emerging best practices in business travel to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.

 What is needed to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master's degree or CPA qualification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a tax consultant, tax analyst, or similar role, with a focus on business travel taxation across various countries in Asia, U.S., and EMEA.
  • In-depth knowledge of domestic and international tax laws, regulations, treaties, accounting regulations and procedures because of the travel.
  • Strong analytical skills and diligence to accurately assess tax risks and identify tax-saving opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and people skills to collaborate effectively with employees and internal teams as well as external vendors and authorities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing tax regulations and effectively communicate changes and implications to the firm and employees.
  • Strong understanding of business travel policies, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to collect and analyze data and generate meaningful insights and reports.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to navigate complex situations and resolve issues related to business travel.
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to work effectively with diverse populations and in international settings.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including HR information systems (Workday and CloudPay is a plus) and mobility management platforms.
