In this opportunity you will serve as the technical advisor to the government's Space Systems Command (SSC) International Affairs (IA) organization regarding Space Domaine Awareness (SDA) and assessments of current and potential partners' SDA sensors, operational concepts and enterprise capabilities.
You'll work together with international governments, industry, and other U.S. departments and agencies on space systems development and acquisition. Through close coordination with key U.S government entities, the Aerospace International Partnership team brings space systems expertise to develop space security cooperation with international partners that enhances the U.S. DoD space architecture's effectiveness and resiliency.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide technical advice to USG customers on identifying and developing international partnerships and capabilities to integrate into US DoD space systems architecture
  • Lead and facilitate exploratory and negotiating discussions with U.S. and international partners
  • Collaborate with multiple missionaries to develop new partnerships and/or agreements operationally relevant to US war fighters
  • Applying technical expertise and leadership skills for space systems acquisition to facilitate collaboration across various Aerospace and USG organizations, the SSC programs of record, and allied governments
  • Advise and mentor others regarding directives, policies, and regulations for government international agreements
  • Facilitate the application of the Arms Export Control Act while implementing the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) for armaments cooperation, export control, technology transfer and foreign disclosure

What You Need to be Successful - Project Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering subject area (Aerospace, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, Electrical, Computer, etc.) or a related technical field
  • Eight or more years of related experience
  • Experience in space systems acquisition, design, production, operations, and architectural development
  • Ability to assess space architectural capabilities gaps/needs and identify potential international partnerships to address those areas
  • Have soft-people skills along with technical competence to communicate mission requirements, interfaces, system design, specs and standards
  • Ability to develop technical products to advance partnership developments
  • Thrive in a fast past, agile environment that interacts with diverse audiences
  • Willing to travel domestically/internationally approximately 25%
  • This position requires a current and active Secret security clearance and an ability to obtain a TS/SCI with a polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

What You Need to be Successful - Sr. Project Engineer
  • Meets minimum requirements for Project Engineer
  • Twelve or greater years of applicable experience
  • Proven operational and development work with at least one mission area across the SSC portfolio, such as Space Sensing, SATCOM, PNT, Space Domain Awareness, and Space C2

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • An advanced degree from an accredited program in STEM areas like operations research, engineering, computer science, networking, cyber or related applicable technical field.
  • Significant experience working the Arms Export Control Act, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), export control, technology transfer, and foreign disclosure matters and/or in supporting international armaments cooperation agreements
  • Previous operational experience with SDA and Space C2 systems
  • Knowledge and development experience of international armaments cooperation agreements
  • Previous experience working with allied governments, other U.S. government agencies, academia, and industry
  • Shown success in the presence of obstacles and challenges
  • Validated ability to optimally work in team environment and be a positive contributing member
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with special access controls (e.g. SCI, SAP)
