Becton Dickinson (BD) is a global medical technology company that is advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics and the delivery of care. BD leads in patient and health care worker safety and the technologies that enable medical research and clinical laboratories. With over $1B in revenue, BD MMS is comprised of 4 businesses, Dispensing Solutions, HealthSight, Infusion Solutions and the newly created Pharmacy Automation business.
The BD MedBankโข Platform within the Pharmacy Automation business delivers medication and supply technologies to enable end-to-end medication safety, security, inventory optimization, and efficiencies. The MedBank portfolio consists of medication management hardware, software, and key PIS/EMR integrations all working together under a cloud infrastructure to address the unique needs and workflows outside of the hospital setting. Collectively, the platform provides safe, secure, accurate, and automated medication management offerings that delivers clinical, operational and financial benefits. The BD Pyxis MedBank system is designed to manage items for use in alternate care and post-acute healthcare environments in the United States such as Closed-Door Pharmacies, Skilled Nursing Facility, Ambulatory Surgical Centers, Clinics and Behavioral Health facilities.
About the role:
The Product Manager role supports key areas in a global context:
- Functions as an SME for Core Team & regional marketing for launch
- Drives product enhancements requests, data strategy, EMR/PIS integrations and continuity in product development process.
- Build product line marketing strategies in alignment with direction set by Platform.
- Supports and drives quality and regulatory activities to meet BD Quality requirements.
- Provides input to Platform on product-specific growth initiatives and investments
- Work toward Product Line revenue/GP objectives to support delivery of overall Platform targets
- Provide input to Platform on potential next generation products and line extensions for their specific product line based on regional requests
- Partner with supply chain on product-line level global demand forecast
- Manage product-level supply continuity, including day-to-day resolution of small-scale allocation / backorder issues
- Provide input to NPD business case and support launch strategy for relevant products
- Partner with regions to develop and deploy product-specific marketing plans/campaigns, articulating value proposition
- Provide input on pricing corridors for the product line
Act as critical resource for defining, driving the strategy, and delivering results for the in-market Medbank product
- Gain a deep understanding of market landscape, trends, customer needs and experience to identify and fill product/service gaps that will generate new solutions to improve the customer experience, grow category share, and drive revenue
- Responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met
- Provides recommendations into product line-related business decisions and resource planning
- Builds and maintain product requirements, roadmaps and strategic oversight with internal and external stakeholders
- Scopes and prioritizes requirements based on business and customer impact
- Builds business cases to support new product and business opportunities
- Ongoing support of the Global Product Development Process (GPDS) by active engagement in peer reviews of product deliverables
- Supports the vetting of innovation ideas to be used for business leadership decisions on priorities and actions
- Communicates and collaborates with domestic sales force and global marketing entities
- Serves as a product and procedure expert to provide technical support to regions, and assist in training, meetings, and conventions.
- Demonstrates strong business and marketing acumen to conduct market assessments and provide strategic recommendation
- Establishes strategic and tactical go-to-market, including product-level positioning, pricing, and messaging to be used by sales and marketing
- Leads market research activities (e.g. VoC) to develop fact-based customer insights.
Education and experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field required. MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant business experience in product management, marketing, market research, business development, sales & data analysis
- Working in regulated medical device industry preferred
- Good understanding of systems integrations (EMR/PIS etc.) preferred
- Knowledgeable in medical device cybersecurity requirements including but not limited to HIPAA, SOC2, FIPS etc. preferred
- Strong technical (Software, Digital, Analytics, and Hardware) understanding around automation solutions that help manage medications and supplies preferred
- 25-30% travel
- Previously led product line Project / program projects
- Good understanding of phased gate product development processes preferred
- Cross functional team experience preferred
