Description:

Braskem’s ambition to lead sustainable innovation in chemicals and plastics requires excellence in managing the raw material regulatory compliance and risk assessments used in the production of our products.  This position is part of a team responsible for managing both the operational and strategic product stewardship and regulatory aspects of raw materials that are required to complete product reviews and regulatory documentation for Braskem products globally.  This role supports and interfaces heavily with the Raw Material Procurement, Product Development, Catalysis, Process Technology, and Legal areas. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage regulatory documents and information from Braskem’s raw material suppliers using a supply chain database system for requesting, tracking, and assessing information
  • Conduct Product Stewardship raw material product safety risk assessments, working with suppliers and internal functions to mitigate risks
  • Assess and manage raw material compliance documentation, including EU REACH and other REACH-like regulation volume coverage supplier agreements
  • Build value-added relationships with suppliers to support Braskem product stewardship and regulatory needs
  • Develop improvements and enhance functionality of the global raw material regulatory information database
  • Assess product safety risks and impacts regarding new or changing raw materials used in Braskem products and regulations pertaining to Braskem raw materials
  • Monitor restricted substance list changes and determine impacts to Braskem raw materials and products
  • Identify opportunities for raw material alternatives to minimize or eliminate product safety impacts
  • Model and promote a Product Stewardship ethic and mindset within Braskem and externally
  • Work with Global Raw Material Procurement and Product Development and other I&T areas, as necessary, to support their emerging needs
  • Conduct and document raw material risk assessments
  • Support the development, update, and maintenance of a Braskem substance of concern list

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ relevant experience in a technical area
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ relevant experience in product safety/product stewardship/regulatory affairs area
  • Strong computer skills required; Proficient with MS Office such as SharePoint and Excel, including bulk manipulation of data and process flows
  • Knowledge and experience in toxicology preferred
  • Experience with petrochemicals and polyolefins beneficial

Education/Qualifications/Certifications and Licenses:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, ecotoxicology, toxicology, or relevant scientific discipline. PhD or MSc highly preferred
  • Strong computer skills required; Proficient with MS Office such as SharePoint and Excel, including bulk manipulation of data and process flows.
