IFC is looking to recruit a GlobalSector Manager, Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Business Support,responsible for supporting its financial institutions business implementedthrough FIG and Trade and Supply Chains Departments. Thisposition is currently based in Washington, DC, United States.
The Global Sector Manager, FIG BusinessSupport, will play a critical role in operationalizing IFC 3.0/Creating Markets strategyby implementing both IFC's FIG approach. She/he will be responsible, in closecollaboration with the WBG/IFC counterparts, for working with regional industrydepartments and support departments to grow the FIG business in IFC. The GlobalSector Manager, FIG Business Support, will report to the Director, Global FinancialInstitution Group.
Please note that selected internal managers will retaintheir grade/title.
Duties and Accountabilities
• Support the operational implementation of the strategy in the FIG business, and alignment of FIG global sector strategies and regional strategies, including growing the IFC's FIG investment portfolio and work with Upstream to create markets through new initiatives and products. Work as part of the FIG Leadership Team to draw on various diagnostic tools, such as Country Private Sector Diagnostics and Sector Deep Dives along with Country Strategies, to identify, assess and prioritize new opportunities.• Help establish and maintain IFC's sector leadership through innovation, including the development and rollout of new business lines/products, keeping with evolving trends. • Support the effective delivery of Investment, Advisory and Upstream projects. Identify and recommend measures to improve FIG results in terms of efficiency, profitability, and development impact.• Oversee global client management function in FIG, including through engagement with other industry departments to identify opportunities for cross-industry "joint ventures."• Lead the middle office support activities of FIG, including new business and portfolio and pipeline reporting and management of FIG's global programs and facilities, including risk sharing platforms with IDA and EC, products and activities related to debt funds, and liaison with Blended Finance, Risk, Treasury and other relevant departments.• Share accountability with FIG Regional Industry Managers for the quality and performance of the FIG portfolio; work jointly with relevant stakeholders to meet FIG scorecard targets (Client Satisfaction, Productivity, Development Impact and People metrics). • Collaborate with other IFC departments and WBG institutions and oversee and support FIG Regional Industry Managers (and other colleagues in IDA and MIGA) in the implementation of the FIG strategy. • Coordinate and support management of CFG budget and funding sources including donor funding and annual FNA for Upstream and Advisory.• Serve as FIG point person for all IFC corporate asks, including sectoral and corporate briefs, reporting, communications, risk assessments, and Advisory Services operations.• Liaise with CBR, CLED, CEG and CES Departments on policy and procedural matters pertaining to FIG business activities. • Support IFC's brand in financial sector activities, building on IFC's sector brand and the overall communications strategy; engage with media as advised by communications staff.• Manage the knowledge management and FIG sectoral and technical training functions for FIG global and regional staff.• Provide the full range of administrative and HR management oversight.
Selection Criteria
• Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum 12 years of relevant work experience.• Outstanding and proven track record of performance in investment and advisory activities.• A track record of innovation in developing and structuring products to support investment in emerging markets.• Experience and track record of delivery in transaction processing and portfolio supervision.• Unquestionable integrity, strong work ethic and commitment to diversity. • Genuine commitment to development and the World Bank Group and IFC's mission and values.• Strong client relationship management skills, with an existing network of relevant top-level contacts in the FIG sector and/or demonstrated ability to develop such high-level client network.• Strong leadership capabilities and experience managing people, especially leading diverse and high-performing teams.• Ability to represent IFC externally with government, media, clients, donors, and other stakeholders.• Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop innovative solutions, challenge the status quo and make sound decisions to build IFC business. • Strong written and oral communications skills.• Ability to develop innovative solutions and challenge the status quo to build IFC's business and image in the market.• Meet Bank Group-wide managerial selection criteria including courage of your convictions, leading the team for impact, influencing across boundaries, fostering openness to new ideas and building talent for the future.
