Global Transition Lead

The Global Transition Lead will manage transitions which will improve, standardise, and ultimately relocate Finance Services activities from Divisions / Segments to MGSF and ensure alignment to the Mars Operating Model. This will include taking total accountability for planning, structuring, leading and executing complex transition projects and programmes.

What are we looking for?

  • Qualifications- Degree level education, preferably with post graduate qualification; domain qualification eg accounting, HR etc - knowledge in order to apply relevant principles to transition related activities
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent preferred, but not essential
  • Proven experience in shared services
  • Experience in the transition of work/activities
  • Good understanding of shared services and service management processes (performance management, service level management, customer surveys, continuous improvement, etc.)
  • Strong organisational, presentation, and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated people and leadership skills to be able to lead a team of professionals. This includes performance management, talent management, work plans, coaching and driving deliverables;
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;
  • Ability to bring transition project to successful completion through political sensitivity
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on detail
  • Able to apply project management techniques to ensure multiple transitions can be executed simultaneously
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are crucial
  • Proficient in English language
  • Advanced relationship management skills involving multiple stakeholder groupings etc.
  • Excellent Project Management skills

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Develop the MGSF (MGS) Transition Method and Playbook
  • Run transitions from design and development stage to implementation and completion stage
  • Define requirements and plan transition lifecycle
  • Document management, including managing systems and tools during transition project delivery to ensure proper document management
  • Create strategies for project risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Demonstrate leadership to define requirements for transition risk and allocate appropriate resources
  • Communicate with all stakeholders
  • Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between transition projects
  • Manage and report progress and risks to the transition's successful outcome
  • Apply a structured change management approach and methodology for business risks
  • Conduct transition readiness assessments, evaluate results and present findings in a logical and easy-to-understand manner
  • Develop a set of actionable and targeted change management plans - including sponsor roadmap, training plan and resistance management plan
  • Work with teams to integrate change management activities into the overall transition plan
  • Work with communication, training, P&O and OD specialists in the formulation of plans and activities to support the transition
  • Be customer and transition focused/orientated

People / Leadership:

  • Hire and develop a competent and experienced transition capability and team
  • Demonstrate behaviour in line with the Mars values, standards and a professional workplace;
  • Provide leadership to and develop the performance of the wider team in line with the Group's policies and systems (e.g. performance management) in order to achieve business goals. As part of this:
    • Foster a constructive and productive working environment;
    • Monitor the work of each team member and provide regular and useful feedback to them on how they are performing and;
    • Drive delivery of objectives holding team members to account for their work.
    • Participate as an effective team member in working collaboratively with your leader, peers and relevant others (including from other teams) to achieve business goals;
    • Monitor the activities of your team which involve other teams and appropriately intervene to address any cross-team issues.

Financial:

  • Contribute to the development of the department and transition budget
  • Monitor costs against budget and either address, or advise your manager of, any variances of note;
  • Identify any opportunities for improved cost management and either address these, or raise them with your manager, as appropriate.

Work Processes:

  • Fully understand all MGSF policies, processes and systems which apply to your team's work and provide leadership so that your team works within these
  • Identify any issues around these that interfere with the ability of your team to complete work or meet the plan/strategy. For processes within your authority, make the required changes. For others, escalate these issues to seek action and / or look for alternative solutions

Role Relationships:

  • Direct Reports - a TBD transition team
  • Key Internal Relationships - MGSF Leadership Team, Service Management Team, Service Operational Delivery Leads/Management Teams/Service Line Managers, MGSF transition and project leads
  • Key External Relationships - Division and Segment representatives, including CFOs and Controllers; representatives of external institutions, service providers and companies
