The Role : The Grants and Knowledge Management Associate will be a core member of the Foundation Program team and work in partnership to coordinate domestic and international grantmaking processes, review the grant application materials to ensure compliance with Foundation and IRS requirements, and assist with management of grants management systems, processes and database.
Guided by our Purpose, "always with you, building a more confident future," this team member will build relationships across internal teams and with our grantee partners, managing information about and from multiple program areas, creating, ensuring existing tools and databases are strategically used, recommending improvements to how we capture and understand data for learning purposes, and leveraging knowledge shared by our partners and the field to inform how MetLife Foundation refines its work to achieve its mission.

This person will be part of a team to help MetLife Foundation advocate for and achieve measurable change in communities around the globe.
Key Responsibilities for Grants & Knowledge Management Associate:

  • Review all grant applications for completeness and adherence to legal requirements and internal grantmaking guidelines, for domestic and international grants including OFAC regulations, UN Sanctions Lists, Terrorist Exclusion list, and/or Internpol Notices.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews of applicants' organizational and financial capacity.
  • Serve as a point of contact for grantee partners, providing technical assistance for application and report submission, responding to inquiries on financial due diligence requirements and verifying information.
  • Ensure integrity of data and accurate coding and information is entered in the grantmaking system.
  • Maintain grants management procedures, including but not limited to due diligence procedures, grant reporting, award letters, grant agreements.
  • Communicate with grantees regarding grant materials: missing application items, budget issues, etc., as well as answering questions about the application/grantmaking process.
  • Prepare reports on grantmaking activity, as requested. Including regular and ad hoc grantmaking reports and perform data analysis.
  • Assist in training staff and grantees as needed on technology or policy issues and procedure changes.
  • Work with Grants Management department on implementation of the department's strategic plan, including technology and process enhancement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:

  • HS Diploma
  • Minimum three years of relevant professional experience in philanthropy, grants administration and management in a foundation.
  • Flexible and eager to contribute to a new strategic approach at MetLife Foundation and lean into an "all hands on deck" approach in a demanding environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Powerpoint) and with grants management systems and databases required including Salesforce and Fluxx.
  • Verbal and written communications skills combined with a customer service approach for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to synthesize data and "find the story" in large and complete sets of data.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work and manage multiple priorities.


MetLife:
The wage range for applicants for this position is $51,100 to $75,000. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
