Job Description

Brookfield Properties has an immediate need for a Group Business Development Representative on-site at the corporate office in Chicago, IL or based at a regional office location.

Responsible for generating new revenue through Specialty Leasing and temporary deal making for multiple centers in a specific geographic area, by canvassing, cold-calling and growing existing tenants by adding new concepts. Required to meet specific new business income goals through aggressive deal-making. Must communicate effectively and persuasively with prospective and existing tenants and local, regional and corporate employees of various levels. Follow through as a team player with business group and corporate directions and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the mall team in preparing the Specialty Leasing budget and business plan for assigned center(s)
  • Responsible for generating new local leads and achieving Specialty Leasing income goals at all assigned centers
  • Canvass region to find and develop new retail concepts for the centers and works to expand their retail operations to assigned centers
  • Enhance value of the assigned centers by negotiating short term agreements that are on favorable terms to the company
  • Keep abreast of competitive Specialty Leasing trends industry/region areas and the areas of all assigned centers
  • Maintain all accounts and account activity, and ensure all required reports are accurate and submitted when due
  • Ensure that specialty leasing retailers enhance the appearance and values of the shopping center and meet company visual merchandising requirements and standards of professionalism
  • Ensure all specialty leasing retailers are adhering to the company operating procedures
  • Must clearly communicate all deals and leasing activity with each assigned center's General Manager and Group Business Development Manager
  • Coordinate all national client leasing activities with General Managers to ensure consistency, maximize rents and provide superior customer service
  • Coordinate all merchandise purchases with General managers and suppliers
  • Monitor year to date progress, trouble shoot, identify problems and work to develop solutions with VP of Business Development
  • Assist in select centers in rent collections, visual merchandising and problem tenants as needed
  • Attend appropriate ICSC and company seminars, conventions, trainings, and meetings
  • Assist in the training, managing, coaching, and mentoring of mall personnel
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a sales capacity
  • Computer skills - Excel, Word Internet, Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Developed sales skills
  • Strong ability to initiate sales contacts
  • Understanding of the specialty leasing process, rent structure and legal terminology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
