Group Claims Assistant

Description

Horace Mann is looking to hire a Group Claims Assistant for our Madison, Wisconsin office.  Group Claims Assistant will support the Group Claims Department on a daily basis with the mailing of benefit payments, managing the printing and mailing of correspondence for offsite claims employees, coordinating yearly maintenance claims review, and work on special projects as necessary.  Work is performed in the Madison office. 

Responsibilities:

• Printing, folding, and mailing of correspondence for off-site employees.

• Manage special mailings for Claim’s Specialists as needed.

• Mail out benefits payments to claimants that don’t have EFT
• Managing the mail in claims system for PTD Maintenance claims and route mail to appropriate reviewer.
• Coordinate outgoing mail and deliveries
• Requesting medical records for the claim’s specialists
• Uploading of amendments to the policies for underwriting in Onbase
• Set up invoices for payment of expenses from vendors and medical providers.
• File death certificates onsite
• Special project work as necessary

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required

• One to two years of experience in the insurance industry preferably

• Regular and reliable attendance is required

• Specific experience in group life and disability products is desired. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

• Superior organizational skills and the ability to prioritize the workload.

• Working knowledge of personal computer required, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and other mainframe applications, as necessary.
