Purpose of the job
Coordinate the activities of the maintenance personnel to ensure that all critical services related to production needs, daily plant operations and systems and installation are carried out in a safe, thorough, and cost-effective manner minimizing production loss due to down time or emergency situations while maintain regulatory compliance. Provide technical knowledge and schedule work assignments for maintenance staff to ensure that decisions are made so as not to adversely impact systems, equipment and processes causing major breakdowns or failures.
Job Context
Lead and coordinate maintenance internal and external hourly staff activities to ensure equipment reliability and a safe working environment as well as adequate plant coverage.

Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility

4.Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and effective manner and all applicable procedures and policies are followed. Take action to correct unsafe acts, systems and procedures.
5.Abides by Avient Protective Materials procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of Avient Protective Materials intellectual property limited to a "need to know" only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or APM property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of APM property and keys.
6.Maintain LTO systems and liaison with SHE to ensure issues are raised and resolved within permit guidelines.
7.Assign appropriate staff to maintain preventative maintenance, planned maintenance and emergency ticket workloads.
8.Provide technical leadership to all craft staff members.
9.Provide craft supervision when the craft supervisor is not available.
10.Assist supervisor in field and shop work to make certain all SOPs are being followed and safety procedures maintained.
11.Provide a supporting role in the weekly planning effort between the craft planner and supervisor.
12.Provide leadership, when applicable or assigned, for all outside contractors performing maintenance work tickets for the maintenance shop. This includes coordination, inspection, and invoice reviews.
13.Perform repairs and preventive/predictive maintenance on equipment from written instructions, sketches, plans, diagrams, oral descriptions, or self-determined job requirements based on observed conditions.
14.Troubleshoot operational problems from field devices all the way to DCS I/O to minimize equipment downtime.
15.Document conditions, actions, procedures and results of work, tests or inspections performed as required by Company policies and procedures.
16.Document work performed on production equipment by maintaining accurate records or logs.
17.Comply with all departmental work instructions, safety guidelines and regulations.
18.Maintain and upgrade technical and non-technical skills through participation in company and outside training programs. Assist with the training of other employees as directed.
19.Maintain and repair, as necessary, equipment/components/calibrations associated with Dyneema® production facilities.
20.It is the responsibility of each employee to work in a sage and responsible manner to create an injury free and incident- free workplace,
21.Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements,
22.Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste by reviewing DYNPRO SHE DYNE 653 and general awareness presentation. Specific job holders will complete more detailed training as well.
23.Perform other duties as assigned.
Authorities
nAuthorized to approve work permits per details included in DYNPRO SHE DYN 026. If so authorized, employee must maintain necessary refresher training to participate in these activities.

This position involves work with (supervision of) and/or handling hazardous materials and waste at the Avient Protective Materials (Greenville, NC) work site. Worker has the appropriate qualifications to read, understand, apply and communicate written and verbal information regarding handling and managing hazardous wastes. Training is required within six months of worker assuming duty, and once a year thereafter. Worker is responsible for proper handling, documentation, inspection and transporting around the facility of hazardous wastes. Worker may also be responsible for responding to emergencies involving hazardous waste.
Complexity of the job
Plan, prepare and execute a work routine that will ensure that all necessary tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner to ensure production equipment is maintained as well as schedule adherence.
Knowledge and educational level
Associate's degree directly related to the position (e.g., Electronics/Electrical, Instrumentation Technology, Engineering, Refrigeration, HVAC, Welding/Metal Fabrication, or other applicable technical degree) PLUS four years industrial maintenance experience in the appropriate disciplines (e.g., Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Refrigeration, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing/Pipe Fitting, Welding, Production Machine Maintenance, High Pressure Boilers, Pure Water Systems, Utility Systems, Repair and Overhaul, etc.); OR HS diploma with six years of industrial maintenance experience in appropriate disciplines (e.g., Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing/Pipe Fitting, Welding, Production Machine Maintenance, High Pressure Boilers, Pure Water Systems, Utility Systems, Repair and Overhaul, etc.)
Required level of experiences
• Basic computer skills
• Scheduling using a maintenance management system
• Ability to coordinate multiple jobs at one time
• General knowledge of N.C. building codes, engineering specifications, OSHA, and safety procedures, NFPA, NEC, etc.
• Working knowledge of a minimum of two area specific maintenance craft skills (Electrical - Instrumentation, Piping - Mechanical, etc.)
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings (preferred CADD operator experience)
• Ability to develop sketches or field orders from field observations
• Ability to analyze maintenance problems and develop corrective actions in a timely manner
• Ability to work with and lead outside vendors and contractors to perform maintenance task
• Ability to manage small construction projects.
