Department Summary:

Systems Engineering Analytics Department seeks an experienced Lead Data Scientist with a specialization in Machine Learning to serve as a Group Leader. The candidate should have a strong background in ML with hands on Systems Engineering for AI pipeline development. The position will support the Systems Engineering Analytics Department. The successful candidate will be a key part of the management team and a thought leader within the department. This position will be responsible for serving as a direct supervisor for 7 to 9 staff members with a diverse skill base in AI pipeline development.

This position will focus on the development and deployment of machine learning models into the AI pipeline. The candidate will work closely with department members in a collaborative working environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, results-oriented professional. Roles and Responsibilities:

• Group Leader will be responsible for recruiting and hiring world class talent in Data Science with a focus on AI design and deployment.
• Group Leader will work across the corporation developing and cultivating trust within the MPS and MNS division leadership.
• Group Leader will be a key contributor in the development of data driven products, work shaping and product/deliverable generation with a focus on creating opportunities for group project teaming.
• Group Leader will provide mentoring and career guidance for early and midcareer tech staff to better prepare of promotion and career growth.
• The Group Leader will lead the group in support of department and division goals. Focusing on growing work, growing staff, and growing the organization.
• The Group Leader will set the standard for leadership demonstrating exemplar traits for improving moral and improving command climate.

Required for consideration:

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, AI, Comp Science or related field and 8 + years applicable experience (or equivalent combination of related education and work experience)
• Active Secret clearance is required to start as is the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• Candidate must have knowledge and experience with data collection techniques, data preparation tools and database system design.
• Candidate must have fundamental training in a formal data science program with a proven track record of teaching and mentoring early career data professionals.
• Candidate must be experienced with the implications of change and management by servitude.
• Candidate must be collaborative and able to develop and expand the community of interested in analytics as applied from a System Engineering perspective.
• The selected candidate will provide examples of their practical application of Machine Learning and NLP solutions.
• Documented success in creating a vision, gaining consensus, establishing a plan, and motivating team members towards productive outcomes.
• Proven success managing projects/programs and project management tools.
• Candidate must be results-oriented, capable of delegation, and effective at oversight.
• The selected candidate must have the ability to lead a project effort implementing staff expansion resulting in a project teaming-based approach.
• Successful candidate must be a skilled communicator who establishes credibility with management and staff.

Preferred:

• Advanced degree in Data Science, AI, Comp Science or related field
• Documented experience conducting advanced research in AI pipeline design using proven System Engineering principals.
