Group Product Manager, Data
Job Description
The Group Product Manager is responsible for leading a team of product managers and also contributing as an individual contributor. The GPM has a demonstrated track record of product success and is able to grow and manage a team of high performing Product Managers. They are responsible for mentoring and developing their team and owning several areas of the customer journey and related products. This person is responsible for driving the overall vision and roadmaps within their portfolio(s). They are highly technical, have strong analytical skills and the ability to build scalable cutting edge products that will help Pie achieve its goal of being the future of commercial insurance.
You will work across the entire organization to ensure your products and features are supporting your end users needs. You must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of Pie-onieers from frontline customer success, sales, and underwriting through the Executive level and external stakeholders.
How You’ll Do ItDrive the product life cycle of Pie’s Data and Machine Learning Portfolio
- Develop, define and oversee portions of Pie’s data portfolio roadmap.
- Gather and prioritize requirements for the product and collaborate with cross-functional peers in engineering, design, marketing, sales and other operational departments.
- Incorporate Pie’s existing development and reporting request backlog and set priorities as determined by the business, user and market needs .
- Own prioritization method and process across both a longer term roadmap and quick wins within the reporting request backlog.
- Implement solutions that empower other stakeholders to have data and metrics that allow them to answer business questions, make decisions, and measure outcomes.
- Help drive and mature processes around the data model deployment lifecycle.
Vision Creation
- Build an understanding of our data needs and differentiation strategy and cultivate the vision for Data, Data Model Ops, and Machine Learning.
- Own the product strategy to continue to enrich our data environment with external data that drives valuable insights and efficiencies into our processes.
- Ensures that the company’s overall strategy and goals are supported by those of the product; that the product goals and strategy do not deviate from that of the business.
- Understand our competitors’ offerings and be able to innovate to differentiate our product offerings.
- Find ways to empower stakeholders to have access to self-service data and solutions.
Collaboration
- Partner with other product and engineering members, as well as business stakeholders, especially data science and analytics team members.
- Handle multiple, major conflicting priorities across stakeholders and teams.
- Collaborate with data engineering to ensure that we maintain data integrity and data governance practices.
Leadership and Management
- Oversee and answer to the appropriate executive and stakeholders for all activities of which they are responsible for within the department.
- Oversee and ensure that the functions of Product Managers are efficiently and effectively executed.
- Build and develop the Product team which includes; recruiting, onboarding, performance management, professional development, separation and offboarding activities and tasks.
Research and Analyses
- Conduct relevant product research; establishing competitive intelligence and various market analyses
- Conduct internal, consumer, and market research that further aids the business in understanding current and future product needs.
- Improve the product development process to become more effective and efficient as they work with stakeholders and identify the business needs.

- 8 years of total product management experience or equivalent amount of product based work is preferred.
- Experience working specifically with data management, modeling, extraction, or data cleaning required; experience working with financial and / or insurance data is preferred
- Proficiency and demonstrated skills with data modeling and data science, preferred
- Experience with AI and machine-learning products and exposure to the ML model lifecycle; training, evaluation, and serving, preferred
- Proficient knowledge of querying languages and tools preferred (SQL, Looker, etc), exposure to object oriented programming languages (Python) is a plus.
- Proficient leadership knowledge, and ability to build, develop and coach the team, as well as manage the team to successful deliverables and outcomes.
- Advanced communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills, ability to deliver complex information effectively and align people with the needs of the project/team.
- Advanced problem solving skills, proficient technical knowledge, the ability to manage complex situations with multiple layers, and generate forward-looking solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project deliverables, make decisions and understand tradeoffs, and improve processes for efficient and effective product delivery.
Base compensation for position: $170,000 - $230,000

Hybrid work locations provide team members with the flexibility of working partially from our Denver or DC office and from home.
