Growth Strategy Intern (Summer)

The Elevator Pitch
Do you want to gain hands-on experience in Growth Strategy? Are you eager to learn and develop critical skills for your future career? Do you have an interest in research and analysis?
In this 10-week Growth Strategy Intern role, you will help define the growth trajectory for the business by determining the viability and market fit of a potential new product offering. Not only will you be gaining critical skills in growth strategy, but you will also gain exposure to the ins and outs of the company and to the other departments and how they operate.
Success in the Role: What are performance outcomes over the first half and second half of the internship you will work toward completing?
In the first 5 weeks, you will:
- Understand Evolv, our product and culture, what we do, and why we do it
- Identify pain points throughout the business and identify potential areas of improvement through strategic research efforts and both internal and external interviews
- Continue to be enthusiastic about taking on new tasks and projects, such as research to understand the market, competition, etc.
In the last 5 weeks, you will:
- Present a formal recommendation to Evolv on whether the company should continue re-focus efforts or continue pursuing current goals
- Develop sufficient rigor and research to back your point of view to executive leadership and our board of directors
- Have a better idea of what you want or don’t want out of your career
- Be able to look back throughout the internship and feel as if you had contributed something meaningful and impactful to the company
- Walk away from the internship proud of what you accomplished
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
- Drive and own research into this new growth area
- Take the information learned from research and synthesize it down into critical insights around the business
- Work closely with the Growth team and additional cross-functional teams and be able to communicate progress, next steps, hurdles, and recommendations concisely and effectively
- Conduct 5-10 prospect and customer interviews to understand potential interest and product-market fit
- Identify and summarize 3 secondary reports on how the landscape is evolving over the next 5 years
- Clearly and concisely summarize findings from research
- Participate in daily strategy standups and weekly team syncs to align on next steps and challenges
- Develop business savviness by sitting in on department Q&As and Executive Leadership presentations to gain knowledge from individuals in different departments and levels at Evolv
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team?
- You will be joining the Growth Strategy team and reporting to the Director of Strategy. The team is comprised of 2 team members, who you will be working closely with

Where is the role located?
- The location of this role is based in Waltham, MA with some flexibility in being remote some days.
- This is a paid internship with a range of $15-$21 an hour, dependent on your academic school year.
