The opportunity
Rystad Energy is looking for a talented and motivated analyst to work in Houston as part of our E&P team and contribute to the greater global research teams. The E&P team is comprised over 80 analysts located in various office around the globe. The role will focus on the analysis of operators in the US Gulf of Mexico and how their plans will drive activity in the region. Leveraging public source data and building relationships with companies active in the US GoM, your role is to provide strategic insight to our customers through your contribution to our research offerings.
You will be expected to collect and analyze data, ensuring its accuracy for publication within our databases and to provide written commentaries on key trends and events affecting the shallow and deep water portions of the Gulf. This will give you a deep understanding of the industry and where the US GoM fits into that, allowing you to work in close collaboration with our consultants, programmers and business developers.
Candidates with very strong analytical skills and some years of analyst experience from E&P or oilfield service companies or from the financial community will be preferred. We are looking for team members able to work independently under tight deadlines and able to juggle multiple priorities.
Job responsibilities
- Obtain and analyze upstream data related the US Gulf of Mexico
- Follow the activities of E&P companies to ensure sure our data on these companies is up to date
- Modelling and valuation of oil and gas assets
- Identify and determine the impact of external factors such as prices, M&A, geopolitics & policy etc. on activity in the GoM
- Build and maintain a network of contacts with operators, service companies and government bodies
- Write insightful commentaries and reports on industry trends
- Present the company's view of the Gulf of Mexico at internal and external industry events and via webinars
- Contribute into the E&P team's work to build the core UCube offering
- Support our external clients, Consultants and business development team
Experience & Skills
- 2-10 years of relevant work experience
- University degree in a data driven field such as mathematics, engineering, economics or information technology
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Fluent in English; other languages are a plus
- Self-motivated, proactive and independent as well as a strong team player
- Knowledge and genuine interest in the oil and gas industry
