Gym Specialist - Afterschool 

Overview

• Hours: 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
• Work Period: Academic Year Hours- 25 hours/week
• Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
• Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly
• Position Reports to: Club Director, Program Director(s)
• Must be at least 18 years old

MIAMI WORK+ELIGIBLE: Yes

Key Responsibilities

• Implement athletic programming for multiple age groups ranging from 2nd grade - 12th grade; programming includes sports education, helping students set personal fitness goals, and facilitating seasonal events centered around physical activity.
• Track daily attendance and program participation. 
• Oversee the National Fitness Competition event in fall and spring; encourage members to compete and achieve personal fitness goals. 
• Model and encourage positive behavior and interactions between members; enforce good sportsmanship and maintain high expectations for members. 
• Manage a safe, clean environment while ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
• Establish positive relationships with youth, their parents and/or guardians, and fellow staff members.
• Facilitate the BGC Five Key Elements: Safe & Positive Environment, Fun, Supportive Relationships, Opportunities & Expectations, and Recognition.
• Participate in special events and fundraisers as needed

Knowledge/Skills Required

• 1+ years of experience in coaching or athletic training. 
• Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents, and community leaders.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Positive attitude & a growth mindset
