Supernal is at the forefront of creating emerging mobility solutions that will foster the development of human-centered cities. We are designing a completely new electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft tailored to the mobility needs of future cities. What we do:

The Supernal Handling Qualities Engineer works to provide superior flight characteristics, maneuverability, and passenger comfort for electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft competing in the urban air mobility market.

This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.

What you can do:
  • Analyze aircraft aerodynamic stability and control (S&C) and related failures
  • Perform 6 degree-of-freedom simulations to predict flight characteristics and handling qualities; evaluate flight dynamics.
  • Devise, prepare, conduct, and report certification maneuver and handling qualities task element piloted simulations and analyses
  • Analyze linear and non-linear flight control system and control law functions
  • Work with rotor aeromechanics, acoustics, CFD, configuration, flight controls, loads and dynamics, test pilot, test & evaluation, and systems engineering groups to accomplish technical objectives
  • Support flight test planning and data analysis
  • Apply Supernal guidance and values leading to professional and technical excellence where all of us are better than one of us
  • Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
  • Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical/aerospace engineering (preferred), mechanical engineering, physics, or closely related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience with aircraft stability and control and/or handling qualities engineering (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Fluent with MS Word and Excel, and basic programming capability with Matlab-Simulink
  • Apply effective speaking, listening, and writing skills to communicate technical ideas and brief management
  • Work effectively within and across teams to accomplish technical objectives
  • Prioritize and multitask to complete a variety of technical assignments
  • Familiarity with rotor aeromechanics and rotorcraft S&C along with FLIGHTLAB or similar 6dof dynamic simulation
  • Familiar with CONDUIT flight control design and CIFER systems identification software packages
You may also be able to contribute:
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Airplane or rotorcraft pilot experience (including student) or flight test engineer experience desired

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is:
$133,120—$186,160 USD
