Your Role and Responsibilities

The Hardware Enablement Team's role is to ensure functional correctness and adherence of the electrical characteristics to the specifications of post-silicon hardware. This validation happens at the system (whole computer) level. This requires methods to test it both pre and post silicon, to execute the tests, to gather debug information, to analyze results and help in the debug of issues. This role requires strategic thinking as well as tactical skills to implement solutions in these areas.

Job Duties:

The primary role is testfloor bringup of newly developed IBM Servers, focusing on the processor and I/O hardware. This is testing of the physical chips, modules, cards and boards that plug into a system. In addition to the processor board, there are many card types that include switches, networking adapters, storage adapters, disk drives (NVMe), and coupling to other computers. This position involves closely working with the many teams that bring a new computer from initial power on to selling to customers. You will provide tooling to support the many aspects of testing the next generation hardware. This role interfaces with a broad range of local and international developers, function and manufacturing testers, hardware designers, hardware vendors, firmware developers and test floor personnel.

Applicant must be comfortable with immersing themselves into the hardware bring-up process and be comfortable with a fast-paced, interrupt driven work model.

About the Team

The IBM Hardware Enablement Team consists of highly motivated Bringup Engineers working on the next generation development environment, tools and infrastructure for our world-class microprocessor and IO hardware designs. We work closely with multiple local and global design teams that are needed to bring a new computer to market. We are located in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

Coding with Python or similar language.

Excellent communication skills

Be able to physically come in to the Poughkeepsie office/lab daily.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

Familiarity with Enterprise IT infrastructure (e.g. Linux, zOS)

Familiarity with Agile development process

Exposure to industry microprocessor design (e.g. x86, ARM or RISC-V processor design)

The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws.
