Responsibilities:
- Research Hardware Development, Debugging and Support
- Assignments for technical details, business goals, risks, and success criteria
- Design and execution of hardware tests
- Solve technical problems, mostly hardware related
- Develop and maintain hardware and volume production of products. Some product lines are at +50K volumes
- Promote quality in all work, including verification of own work before publishing to others
- Continuous development
- Collaborate with contractors, managers, and Product Owners
- Review work performed by other parties, including contract manufacturers and certification labs
- Document proposals, solutions, and work done
- Keep apprised of all standards and regulatory requirements necessary for fulfilling duties
- Effectively communicate as required to external manufactures, partners, and suppliers in related technology concerns
- Monitor and stay informed on field issues and installation customs and incorporate future features to enhance installation and reliability
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Hardware Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years developing hardware and resolving hardware issues
- Hardware design for large-volume, cost-sensitive microcontroller-based systems with cellular communication modules (cellular modems)
- Common microcontroller architectures including 8-bit and 32-bit (ARM/ARM Cortex)
- Design of control, power, interface, and compliance circuits for low-power communication devices
- Circuit design with Altium IDEs including:
Symbol/Component creation
Schematic diagram design in compliance with company design rules
Management of component and design libraries
Generation and validation of netlists
- Understanding PCB layout design workflow
- Working with partners, service organizations, and contract manufacturers on:
- Layout and panelization
- Components and crossings
- Vendor part approvals
- First article inspections
- Using tolls like oscilloscopes, DVMs, logic and protocol analyzers
- Using JIRA for workflow management
- Documenting with Confluence
- Familiarity with software development using C#, Java or Python is a plus
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to meet and exceed deadlines with composure.
Preferred Experience:
- Payment systems and Payment Card Industry standards, payment card readers
- Cellular connectivity using embedded IoT modems
- Vending machines/kiosks (operation and architecture)
- Vending industry-specific interfaces: MDB, DEX
- Soldering skills
