GEICO is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer II with a passion for building high performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. Position DescriptionÂ
Our Hardware Engineer II is a key member of the Mobility Engineering Operations staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.
Position ResponsibilitiesÂ
As a Hardware Engineer II, you will:Â
- Contribute to projects involving vendor selection benchmarking with minimal guidance and implement best practices
- Assume ownership of existing business processes and servicesÂ
- Drive enhancement and continuously improve the quality of hardware/software services and end user experienceÂ
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle
- Implement upgrades and feature expansions to existing benchmark processes with minimal guidance
- Work with senior engineers to define the technical architecture and support the implementation of new hardware standards/services from technical perspective
- Supports projects migrating from existing platforms to new platforms
- Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
- Build product definition and use your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
- Analysis and Estimation skills
- Drive proof of concepts to test new technologies with hardware & software, working closely with cyber, network and telecommunication teams
- Assure 24x7 operations and stability of services with high regard for end user experience
- Support the creation of the enterprise level roadmap in terms of supporting multiple vendors for future business demands
- Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient systems
- Provide knowledge share, mentoring, and systems training to junior team members as needed
- Consistently share best practices, and improve processes within and across teams
- Contribute to significant business initiatives, attend scrum meetings, and give presentations
- Solve difficult problems, learn new technologies, and push the boundaries of what is possible
- Work to understand and build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
QualificationsÂ
- Experience in decision making and driving projects involving vendor benchmarking working with major collaboration platforms such as Slack, Zoom, Webex, and MS TeamsÂ
- Basic working knowledge of hardware Windows OS/Apple OS
- Work with creating integration points, with different products such as Intune including experience with deployment, management, API integrations, and troubleshooting
- Basic experience with installation, configuration, and management of hardware.
- Basic experience with Active Directory and Azure AD
- Experience working with vendors for technical supportÂ
- Basic understanding of the security and compliance needs of the business and how they apply to certificates and secure communication
- Basic understanding of Virtual and Cloud infrastructures
- Basic understanding of networking protocols, devices, and telephony
- Basic understanding and ability to correlate alerts into problem resolutions, including custom alerts with thresholds for greater availability and stability.Â
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsÂ
- Strong oral and written communication skillsÂ
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environmentÂ
ExperienceÂ
- 2+ years of non-internship professional experience supporting multiple hardware vendors
- 2+ years of experience with architecture and designÂ
- 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud serviceÂ
- 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworksÂ
- 1+ years of experience with any scripting and API integration
EducationÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceÂ
