Hardware Engineering Intern

This position is based in Petaluma, California.

In this role, you will be part of the Calix Summer Internship program. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job experiences. You will learn Calix's products, work across technical groups. We are looking for someone who is passionate about what it takes to build a quality robust product, and how things work. This is an exciting opportunity for any aspiring Engineering student to come into a high growth, fast paced environment and have real hands-on experience as part of a Hardware Engineering team. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.

This opportunity is for a college engineering student to work in the Calix Petaluma office as a full-time Summer Intern. This role will require a minimum of 3 days per week on-site in the Petaluma office. The remainder of the time can be remote.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Work with Engineering teams to enhance existing products and processes.
• Document and report test coverage.
• Provide on-site lab support for product testing and validation.
• Develop 3D models, assemblies, and drawings.
• Conduct research to support improvements for existing processes.
• Review literature and conducting applicable product testing to aid in the design and development of processes.
• Support other engineering teams (electrical, optical, testing) as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Calix requires all employees based in North America who will work onsite at a Calix office, attend in-person meetings, and/or travel on behalf of Calix to be fully vaccinated. Calix will consider requests for reasonable accommodations as required under applicable law.
• Working towards an Engineering or Computer Science degree
• Inquisitive and Creative.
• Excellent MS Office skills - particularly MS Excel.
• Working knowledge of Python scripting.
• Strong working knowledge of fundamental electronic components.
• Able to read and understand hardware schematics.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on lab environment.
• Works well in both individual and team roles.
