Security Enhancement Systems (SES), a subsidiary of Johnson Controls' Access Control and Video Surveillance division is a rapidly growing, high-tech company seeking an experienced, small engineering team oriented Principal Engineer to lead product planning, development, and introduction activities as well as support existing product manufacturing needs with a strong focus on electro-mechanical and electronic hardware design for manufacturing.

How you will do it
SES has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Hardware Engineering Lead! This role offers flexibility on location, which would include Charleston, SC, Westford, MA, and/or Northbrook, IL, since you will be required to come onsite 3 days per week or on an as needed basis. The Hardware Engineering Lead is dedicated to leading engineering teams, prototyping, design, validation testing and product launch. You will be responsible for leading a team and new products from conception through product launch, leading electro-mechanical design, product optimization efforts, prototyping, and verification testing. This role leads and supports firmware requirements generation, coding, and verification and this talented individual will have the privilege of doing their own design reviews and final drawing release signature. Leading engineering teams and driving collaboration efforts across the business will be essential. You will be working side by side with production on parts substitution and obsolescence research and other various global engineering teams, sales, marketing, operations, QA, and ALL teams dedicated to Access Control.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8+ years of related engineering experience with new product development experience using Altium Designer, Creo and/or Solidworks.
- Strong Mechanical and Electrical knowledge.
- Experience mentoring team members and contributing to design details.
- Understanding of Regulatory Agency requirements; UL, FCC, EMI/EMC.
