Hardware Engineering Manager

Alarm.com is looking for a hands-on Manager/Senior Manager to lead an engineering team of hardware engineers focused on developing and delivering innovative video camera solutions. The Engineering Manager's primary focus will be to lead, develop, and expand the capability of our hardware engineers, but will also serve as a hands-on technical resource as needed to help drive our product development forward.

Responsibilities:

• Manage, build, and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team that is responsible for developing hardware (primarily video cameras). The team is currently made up of 10+ hardware engineers of varying levels

• Manage day to day operations of the hardware team located in San Diego, California

• Evaluate all project requirements, work with Program Managers & Project Engineers on project scope, and assist in determining staffing requirements for projects.

• Work across product teams within the organization to stay in sync on product development schedules and priorities
• Recognize areas for internal improvement by developing and deploying strategies for optimization
• Oversee, develop, and streamline processes to ensure that employees apply best practices in designs, design reviews, engineering analysis, and release documentations
• Provide leadership, coaching, guidance, mentoring, training, and performance management to ensure retention, growth and development of electrical engineering team members and direct reports.

Qualifications:

• Technical background (e.g. hardware development) with advanced knowledge of iOT products
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical discipline; or equivalent demonstrable experience is required
• 8+ years of experience which should include – experience in electrical hardware engineering roles and demonstrated experience leading an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience directly managing a technical team
