Hardware Reliability Engineering Intern

For the fall 2023 semester, Mill is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic intern who is driven to enhance the integrity of Mill's kitchen bin. Your main role will involve creating and implementing various tests to ensure its long term durability and reliability. As a valuable member of Mill's HW Reliability Team, you will gain exposure to and knowledge in diverse areas such as designing for reliability, conducting reliability tests, analyzing failures, understanding the physics of failure, and developing models to predict the product's lifetime, among other aspects.

• Your primary responsibility will be to create and implement reliability tests for our products and its components.
• This includes designing and developing new reliability tests across all our product categories. 
• Additionally, you will be involved in validating design changes through techniques such as Finite Element Analysis and Mock Up Testing. 
• When necessary, you will assist in root-cause analysis and failure analysis.
• Collaboration with design and manufacturing teams to build boundary samples and perform Design of Experiments (DOEs) will be crucial. 
• You will also analyze data and simulate Weibull parameters for critical failure modes.
• As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to develop and automate new testers and fixtures to enhance the testing process.

• Pursuing BS or advanced degree on Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, etc
• Experience on statistical modeling, Weibull modeling and Monte Carlo simulation.
• Understanding of Design for Reliability and Design of Experiments
• Proficient on modeling (Ansys/Abaqus/Sherlock) and scripting (Python)
• Familiar with reliability software tools

• Experience in executing mechanical reliability tests such as Drop, Vibration, Shock etc.
• Experience in designing new reliability tests and test fixtures etc.
• Experience in CAD and 3D printing etc.
