The Aerospace Physical Sciences Laboratories (PSL) is a diverse scientific organization that provides a broad and innovative research and development backplane for a growing space enterprise. The Microelectronics Technology Department (MTD) is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff to support investigations of microelectronics security and reliability for satellite systems. This will include modeling and simulation and the development of novel test techniques to assess a wide variety of electronic and optoelectronic technologies. The types of analyses that will be performed include data stream security, attack countermeasures, design reverse engineering, and fault isolation.
This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA, offering a hybrid work model that combines regular onsite laboratory work and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You'll Be Doing
- Serve National Space Security programs by providing microelectronics reliability and security assessments
- Conduct research on topics related to IC technology qualification and assurance
- Develop novel capabilities to characterize the security of advanced microelectronics for critical applications
- Perform failure analysis and reverse engineering investigations
- Publish papers and present work at conferences and other communities of interest
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent is required
- Typically, 5 years experience in a microelectronics-related industry or applicable professional or educational experience
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical personnel via oral and written forms
- In depth knowledge of integrated circuits
- Proficient in MATLAB, C/C++, and/or Python
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S .government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering is highly desirable
- In depth knowledge of semiconductor physics and failure analysis
- Knowledge of electronic device packaging and fabrication
- Understanding of focused ion beam and laser scanning microscopy for fault identification in failed devices
We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$70,000 - $105,000 - $130,000
