The Role
Harvest Supervisor will be responsible for managing, planning, directing, organizing, coordinating, and leading the Harvest activities for the Paterson, NJ facility. This Supervisor will lead the team and will ensure quality, compliance and consistency of service delivery, and will focus on higher level planning, forecasting, and general business activities of this group.  The Harvest Supervisor will report to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Head Grower. 
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with Head Grower and the General Manager. 
  • Keep detailed harvest & flower records and submit reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc. as needed
  • Run, supervise, and assign harvest & flower crew members
  • Work collaboratively with Head Grower on Drying/Curing process
  • Manage the cannabis harvest process including offload, harvesting, sanitizing and reloading flower rooms, milling and destruction.
  • Lead and support the Harvest & Flower teams, identify gaps and weaknesses and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Assist Team Leads and Shift Leads with conflict resolution within the department, and address employee concerns and questions.
  • Coordinate with supervisory staff to ensure staffing numbers are met based on the harvest & production schedules.
  • Work with executive management to establish and manage current and long-range objectives, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), strategic plans and procedures.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained on SOPs and departmental processes. Develop and ensure SOPs are being followed for all harvest and post-harvest activities.
  • Direct and promote employee safety through Company safety program and create a culture of safety and teamwork in the Harvest & Flower department and throughout the facility.
  • Ensure all harvest & flower tools and machinery are in working order and coordinate with the maintenance department to troubleshoot/fix any mechanical issues.
  • Provide regular feedback and support to supervisors and coordinators in all harvest & flower related activities.
  • Collaborate with the Quality/Compliance department to ensure all aspects of quality & compliance are maintained, including records and documentation, and improved on as required.
  • Identify concepts and plans for cost and productivity improvements.
  • Manage, supervise and direct the activities of assigned staff; make recommendations regarding hiring, discipline, termination or advancement of employees in department
  • Assist Human Resources in predicting labor needs and forecasting human resources
  • Lead weekly team meetings and participate in daily manager meetings
  • Accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations
  • Help evaluate each employee’s performance based on clearly communicated standards and expectations.
  • Conduct individual employee performance reviews/evaluations
  • Hold employees accountable for performance; confront poor performance or behavior in a professional manner
  • Help manage and moderate all disputes, disruptions and disciplinary personnel issues; report anything troublesome to direct supervisor
  • Manage PTO (paid time off) requests and approvals of facility staff; Ensure employees understand and abide by PTO and Attendance policy
  • Monitor employee progress; guide, train and develop employees in the accomplishment of their duties and goals through professional growth; write, conduct and oversee individual performance reviews/evaluations of department employees
  • Continuously improve the skills, knowledge and morale of all employees; create an environment where the entire team does the same; lead by example
  • Other duties as assigned 
Qualifications
  • A minimum bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum 2+ years supervisory experience working in a manufacturing, batching, facilities or related industry is required. 
  • Experience in production facility operations is considered an asset; experience with Lean Manufacturing is an asset. 
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Proven success in leading multidisciplinary teams to the highest quality work
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with different groups, changing deadlines, priorities and requirements.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated space is preferred.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast paced environment
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally 
Additional Requirements
  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must be approved by the state badging agency to receive an Agent badge
Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
  • Strong odors of extracted cannabis and cannabis plants on a consistent basis
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds on occasion.
