Head, Alcon FRA Operations
Job Description
The Head of FRA Operations will have responsibility for the worldwide FRA Operations organization. The position will lead a team consisting of the Alcon global service (AGS) centers in Mexico City, Bangalore, Warsaw, and Kuala Lumpur, as well as in-country teams and the Global Process Organization (GPO). She/he will drive superior performance by servicing all countries ensuring high quality of financial reporting & accounting and management information for internal and external reporting and that support effective decision making throughout the company. She/he will also ensure services are compliant with Alcon Standards as well as policies and procedures are aligned with the overall Alcon Group and Finance strategy and objectives.
Major Accountabilities
Leadership and Management
- Sets clear vision and objectives for FRA Operations supporting the overall Alcon Group, and Finance strategy and objectives
- Coordinates with key stakeholders to ensure integration, efficiency/effectiveness of the service delivery
- Owns and drives future productivity improvements to achieve efficiency (cost) and effectiveness targets year over year by setting the strategic direction of FRA Operations, be the catalyst in the continuous improvement journey and actively manage relationships with key stakeholders such as the Chief Accounting Officer, Alcon Finance Function, and general management, where appropriate
Operations
- Manage the FRA operations at the AGS centers as well as in-country teams and the GPO in line with the Finance Vision
- Accounting Services: ensure operational excellence and compliance in running the FRA functions through the in-country, AGS and GPO teams and outsourced services providers (i.e., third party services providers)
- Ensure timely and High-Quality financial reporting monthly in accordance with IFRS and the Alcon Accounting Manual. This includes reviewing financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements and maintaining appropriate controls to ensure all business transactions are reported timely and accurately.
- Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for FRA are clearly defined meeting the Finance aspiration, measured regularly and achieved and when not achieved, root-cause analysis performed, and corrective action plans executed.
- Monitor and manage the AGS processes/activities ensuring a high quality and compliant services, in accordance with agreed and documented SLAs/KPIs
- Develop an external network of FRA Operation expertise to gain benchmarking and best practices insights to measure and improve operations
- In addition to delivering operational excellence, provide Governance and stewardship over processes, systems, and data
Compliance
- Ensure financial compliance/SOX 404 attestation by maintaining an appropriate control framework
- Prepare quarterly SOX 302 disclosure reports for all Units
- Oversee relationships with internal and external auditors
- Ensure local Statutory Financial Statements are filed timely for 55+ legal entities.
People Management

- She/he will also build and develop talent, and drive a continuous improvement mindset in the organization and develop and execute training in the areas of process excellence, Financial IT systems, internal controls, and fraud awareness
Education:
(minimum/desirable)
- University Degree, MBA desirable
- Certified Public Accountant/Chartered Accountant
Languages:
- Excellent English both spoken and written, other languages desirable
Experience:
- Overall relevant work experience of 15 to 20 years. Strong technical competence acquired in:
- Auditing and Financial Reporting & Accounting: minimum 8 years of Big 4 and/or Public Accounting experience
- Financial Reporting systems: 5-year experience acquired in global consolidation and reporting systems
- External Reporting and/or Compliance Function: 5-year experience acquired in one of these areas in a multinational company
- Line management experience (i.e., reporting to Global CFO of a business/Division or Chief Accounting Officer) with large international team responsibility and remote relationships is necessary
- System Experience in driving financial shared services solutions / leading financial shared service organizations
- Implementations (i.e., SAP or other ERP)
- Six Sigma black belt certification beneficial
- Good understanding of the Healthcare industry desirable
- Proven history in managing large projects, change and ability to work in a matrix organization
- Experience of managing performance against SLAs and O&O Services
