Key Responsibilities

1. Business Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for driving revenue growth in the central government segment.
  • Build on and Identify key government sectors and departments for business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align product offerings with government requirements.

2. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with senior government officials, policymakers, and decision-makers.
  • Represent the company at government forums, events, and negotiations.
  • Monitor and influence (if possible), government policies and initiatives that impact the business.

3. Sales and Business Development

  • Lead the sales, technical and business development team to identify and secure government projects and contracts.
  • Prepare and present proposals, bids, and tenders to central government entities.
  • Ensure compliance with government procurement processes and regulations.

4. Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a team of government sales and business development professionals.
  • Set clear performance objectives and foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Provide training and guidance on navigating the government ecosystem effectively.

5. Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with product, marketing and legal teams to customize solutions for government needs.
  • Coordinate with consultants & partner eco system for market information and deal insights
  • Ensure seamless execution of government projects and timely delivery of services and support.

6. Market Analysis and Intelligence

  • Stay updated on government budget allocations, schemes, and funding priorities.
  • Track competitors’ activities and market trends within the public sector.
  • Identify emerging opportunities in areas like digitization, infrastructure development, and public service modernization.

7. Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and ethical standards in government dealings.
  • Monitor and manage risks associated with large-scale government projects.
  • Maintain transparency and accountability in all government engagements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achievement of sales targets in the central government segment.
  • Success of individual team members through effective coaching and mentoring
  • Relationship depth with key government stakeholders.
  • Team performance and employee satisfaction.
  • Compliance with government procurement regulations and internal governance standards.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MPA) is highly preferred.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in government sales, public sector business development, or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of central government procurement processes, policies, and stakeholder landscape.
  • Proven track record in winning and managing large-scale government contracts.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep knowledge of government operations, policies, and decision-making processes.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to navigate complex environments.

Work Environment:

  • Limited travel may be required to meet government stakeholders and attend official events.
  • Hybrid work environment combining office presence and remote engagements with government officials.
