As our Head of Accounting, Controller, you will manage the corporate accounting function at Redesign Health and play a critical role in building a world-class accounting infrastructure for a technically complex organization, including overseeing accounting reporting, tax, payroll and accounts payable. Through financial reporting and KPI dashboards, you will also help inform corporate strategy of the organization. Your goal is to build scalable processes and efficient teams that enable the timely and accurate close of our monthly financials, completion of our first audit, robust and insightful monthly management reporting packages, and identification of savings opportunities.Â
Given Redesign’s co-founding stakes in 40 and counting operating companies, this person will bring a deep technical and valuation acumen to develop sophisticated and scalable consolidation processes and assessments across a growing set of assets. In this role, you will be responsible for leadership of the accounting team, tax function, payroll/AP functions, management of external audit and accounting partners, as well as oversight of month-end close, consolidation, and annual audit processes. You will also assist Redesign’s Operating Companies through short-term operational accounting support and ad hoc technical accounting guidance.
As our Head of Accounting, you will report to and work with our Head of Strategy & Finance and also collaborate with Redesign leadership and stakeholders across the Redesign platform.Â
This position can be at our New York City Headquarters or be fully remote.Â
What you'll do:- Develop a robust consolidation process across our 40+ equity positionsÂ
- Drive GAAP accounting compliance for the fully consolidated Redesign financials
- Lead internal team and external advisors to document and implement technical accounting policies, including the consolidation of all controlled-entity financial results
- Review revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and other current accounting approachesÂ
- Partner with Strategy & Finance leadership to deliver GAAP financial reporting to executive team
- Oversee audit readiness project and implement policies & procedures to improve internal controls and meet audit requirements
- Lead transition from a NetSuite BPO services model to in-house service and implement appropriate consolidation and technical accounting processes
- Partner with external advisors to refine existing processes and controls
- Lead team in producing the monthly management reporting package and developing improvements that offer visibility into performance; highlight key insights to enable senior leadership and department leaders to make rapid business decisions
- Manage KPI reporting and oversee additions and removals to the KPI dashboard
- Create and track new financial KPIs
- Identify areas of potential savings
- Develop robust cash reporting Â
- Oversee tax function
- Manage Redesign’s Operating Company accounting functions; proactively identify and remedy technical challenges common in early-stage startups
- Manage Portfolio Finance and Accounting Team to establish a scalable consolidation/de-consolidation process
- Partner with Data Science and Portfolio Administration teams to streamline financial reporting package and improve turnaround time

- 15+ years of experience in an accounting leadership role such as Chief Accounting Officer or Head of Accounting at a rapidly growing technology company
- Experience leading an organization through a full audit and implementing world-class financial controls and processes
- Consolidation experienceÂ

- Strong understanding of technical and GAAP accounting and experienced in consolidating complex organizational structures
- Systems thinking approach and capability to model complex systems, with an eye toward developing scalable infrastructure and automation

Full-time base salary range of $225,000 - $300,000 plus a competitive equity & benefits package listed under the "Why work with us?" section.Â
