Head of Accounting

We are looking for an experienced Head of Accounting who brings strong leadership with the ability to support a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the VP of Finance & Accounting, the Director of Accounting will be responsible for setting up the foundation for the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, tax filing and the development of process and controls. 

The successful candidate will be a seasoned manager with tremendous integrity, vision, drive, intelligence, and capability. This person will be highly motivated and have the ability and desire to shape the future of the business. 

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, technical accounting, inventory, cash management and revenue recognition activities
• Drive timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and efficient financial reporting
• Manage monthly, quarterly, annual financial statement fluctuations with explanations ensure reasonableness
• Manage the implementation of new accounting pronouncements for leases (ASC 842)
• Partner with FP&A team to set up and manage company’s budget
• Lead internal tax team and partner with our external tax firm to complete income tax filing, sales and indirect tax filings on time, in addition to broader tax compliance across the company
• Manage external auditor relationships to facilitate completion of audit procedures in a timely and efficient manner
• Establish, implement, manage and monitor critical accounting and reporting policies, processes and associated metrics
• Serve as the Company’s expert on accounting matters, partnering with other departments on accounting-related questions and initiatives
• Evaluate and identify areas of potential exposure and internal control weakness, and evaluate and improve processes and work flows to improve completion times.
• Owner of accounting information system and related data flows to ensure accuracy of financial statements
• Lead, motivate and develop talent within the organization including regularly reviewing their goals, objectives, performance and career advancement
• Ensure legal & compliance processes and related workflows are maintained for risk mitigation and financial reporting purposes
• Liaise with external insurance brokers and internal parties to ensure proper coverage and renewal timelines are met
• Own other special projects and responsibilities as they occur

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting management experience, including experience in a Big-4 accounting firm, CPA required
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Inventory and cost accounting preferred but not required. 
• Track record of building and developing high-performance accounting teams in a fast-paced organization
• Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally to accomplish complex projects.
• Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example.
• Comfortable leading through ambiguity and a champion of change.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business related field.
• Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
• Self-starter, detail oriented and efficient
