Head of Antibody Engineering

About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional scientific leader with deep experience in therapeutic antibody development to lead Protillion’s antibody discovery team and interface with biopharma partners.

The role will initially involve significant hands-on work at the bench, and the successful candidate will have the ability to both be an exceptional individual contributor as well as a team leader as the organization expands.

Job Responsibilities:

• Leverage existing experience and creative problem solving ability to achieve key goals of the company, including the development of new molecular engineering workflows and SOPs that best leverage Protillion’s transformational antibody discovery technology.
• Be responsible for visualization and presentation of results in a clear and interpretable manner, as well as communicating obstacles, bottlenecks, constraints, as well as new opportunities to inform priorities at the highest level of the organization.
• Manage hiring and capital equipment expansion of Protillion’s antibody discovery team.
• Interface with pharma partners to understand antibody development project requirements, execute, and deliver.
• Identify, build, and manage relationships with CROs for antibody manufacturing, also cell-based and animal testing.
• Work closely with the bioinformatics and software development teams to build analysis methods and tools.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in relevant discipline with >5 years experience and >3 years in leadership roles.
• Extensive experience with directed evolution methods such as Phage Display and Yeast Surface Display for therapeutic antibody fragment discovery and optimization.
• Proven experience designing and building humanized antibody libraries.
• Deep familiarity with NGS methods and workflows.

Also advantageous:

• Experience working with VHH antibody fragments 
• Experience developing antibody assays
