The Head of NTAM's Trade Surveillance Program will be the key person on the Northern Trust Asset Management Compliance team leading the onboarding, implementation, and operation of a global trade surveillance function. Major responsibilities will include overseeing the vendor relationship during application onboarding, overseeing the application once it is implemented, leading investigations into trading activity where warranted, and supporting compliance as a trading subject matter expert.
More specific responsibilities include:
• End-to-end leadership of the onboarding of a vended trade surveillance system and development of a global trade surveillance function
• Oversee and manage the trade surveillance application, including functioning as a subject matter expert on the application's capabilities, alert parameters, and interactions with other systems
• Regular oversight, analysis, and adjustment of the application's parameters, such as alert thresholds and user access
• Coordinate with technology partners to investigate and resolve data errors or other application issues
• Act as a point of escalation for other team members conducting initial reviews of alerts, or performing primary reviews of surveillance alerts;
• Communicate with trading and investment teams to determine whether trading alerts are false positives or indicative of policy or regulatory violations;
• Support non-U.S. trade surveillance and trade reporting regulatory requirements
• Support other asset management compliance initiatives such as policy design and effectiveness testing, particularly those which are focused on trading

• Support other asset management compliance initiatives such as policy design and effectiveness testing, particularly those which are focused on trading
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as part of or supporting a trade desk, trade control, or trade surveillance function
- Substantial experience with equity, fixed income, FX, futures, and derivatives trading, and regulatory requirements governing those activities.
- Technical expertise with order management systems such as Aladdin
- Experience with data governance and with resolving data quality and data transmission issues in complex operating environments.
- A team-oriented and flexible approach toward supporting the business.
