The Role
We’re currently seeking a Head of Business Development to join our team in Melbourne, Australia. In this role, your main focus will be developing new business and renewal pipelines, selling the AXS Platform to music venue clients in key markets across Australia and New Zealand. You will earn and keep each client’s respect and confidence as a trusted adviser. The Business Development Manager will acquire in-depth knowledge of and be conversant in the client’s business – their key issues, competitive situation, industry trends and individual market dynamics. Our ideal candidate is an engaging presenter who excels at establishing and nurturing relationships.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for building and maintaining sales and renewal pipelines, selling the AXS offerings and responding to formal tenders to music venue clients.
- Work with AXS Business Development, Product and Sales Management on financial modeling, competitive and market analysis to certify segment viability. Take the lead to ensure that the offering remains leading edge.
- Cultivate relationships within existing and relevant music venue client accounts.
- Routinely refine and execute partnership pitch presentations with the AXS Design Team.
- Travel as required by the business
Skills and Experience we’re seeking
- A minimum education level of BA/BS Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- 10+ years of related experience in sales within the music venue space, communication, marketing support or a related field.
- A deep understanding of the entertainment market in Australia and New Zealand.
- Strong natural selling skills with proven experience in pitch and strategic positioning.
- Proven track record of negotiating with the ability to improvise.
- Ability to perform successfully within a fast-paced, results-driven, dynamic, and highly collaborative and changing work environment.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends and holidays, travel extensively.
- Proven ability to listen, extrapolate information and leverage resources to effectively provide solutions to meet client/prospect needs.
- Ability to work closely with other sales resources to ensure total account opportunity is capitalized on.
- Must have the ability to understand the big picture and successfully position solution strategies, product demonstrations and presentations appropriately.
- Solid understanding of budgeting spend and identifying meaningful KPIs.
- Expertise in identifying opportunities, developing strategies, and negotiating creative solutions.
- Exemplary problem-solving, communication and presentation skills.
- Possess a high degree of poise and professionalism when presenting and interacting with internal and external clients.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); and ability to learn required business systems
- Business-level Japanese fluency a plus
