Job Description

About Us:

We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.

We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide.

Notion is an in person company, and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that employees spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day).

About The Role:

We’re looking for Head of Business Operations to help our teams proactively address a diverse array of cross-functional business opportunities. This leader plays a significant role in building strategy & processes to unlock growth and help our Company scale.

You’ll work directly with Notion’s leadership across functions and manage a team that is embedded within various key objectives across the company. This role will work cross-functionally to lead large, critical initiatives and solve complicated, unstructured problems. You will be responsible for coaching & developing your team, as well as driving accountability and operational execution across key cross-functional initiatives.

What You'll Achieve:
  • Lead and grow Notion’s Business Operations & Strategy team
  • Define and measure critical important metrics & proactively identify business trends
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and report KPIs and value frameworks for company objectives/strategic initiatives
  • Analyze the data relevant to any project or focus area; partner with DS, product and others to develop hypotheses, and complete in-depth analyses to translate data into meaningful and actionable insights
  • Identify hotspots in the business that require intervention and proactively investigate, strategize, and implement solutions with business leaders
  • Partner with functional leaders to help them optimize their operations through systems, process, roadmap reviews and product modifications
  • Coordinate bi-weekly leadership meetings, monthly & quarterly business reviews
  • Partner with our Strategic Finance, Data and Revenue organizations to standardize and distribute the key operating metrics for the business
  • Work with broader finance team and leaders to ensure resources are aligned to Company objectives
Skills You'll Need to Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, CS or related field
  • 12+ years of work experience, including strong foundational experience in investment banking, private equity, or consulting and at least 5+ years experience at a high-growth technology company in business operations
  • Strong track record of managing embedded and/or highly cross-functional teams
  • Naturally analytical mindset; the candidate gravitates toward a spreadsheet rather than a slide deck
  • Experience in a highly cross functional role and can clearly describe and work within the organizational dynamics of a fast-growth company
  • Ability to execute with conviction and good judgment with limited guidance; needs minimal direction in an ambiguous context to take action and then adapt quickly
  • Curious to learn about different parts of the business and how to pull certain levers to grow faster
  • Proven leadership and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems using data and process improvement
  • Able to move remarkably fast with little structure and guidance
Nice to Haves:
  • Knowledge of SQL & statistical analyses
  • MBA or advantaged degree in Math, Engineering or related field

If you’re a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you.
