Head of Cloud Engineering

This is a senior leadership role focusing on scaling our multi-cloud DevOps engineering. Harness is growing at a faster pace and we are looking to support our growth with a devops leader who has significant experience and expertise in design, delivery and support of software delivery solutions in a cloud environment.

Role:

• Lead, support, and mentor the global Harness cloud engineering team 
• Plan the team's roadmap to meet our business outcomes. Work closely with tech leads to define, design and implement infrastructure needs
• Responsible for all DevOps and security areas: infrastructure and cloud environments, CI/CD, observability, SAST, SCA, SSDLC and Cloud Security
• Create and lead a developer/development experience culture – make developers more efficient and productive by addressing their pain points, ensuring the reusability of tools among all development teams, maintaining consistent standards for testing and monitoring, and continuously improving developer tools.
• Hold accountability for the architecture and technical leadership of the complete DevOps infrastructure and stack
• Implement and maintain security best practices and standards, leading the security issue remediation process as part of the integration with Mastercard
• Optimize operation efforts and adopt new tools
• Design, implement, and continually improve everything the team does to scale the platform
• Manage incidents and serve as an escalation point for the team and other stakeholders within the organization
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting production services

About you

General:

• 8+ years successful track record and most recently as a Director/Sr Director/VP of devops/site reliability engineering. 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer with proven expertise in cloud infrastructure and systems
• Bachelors/Masters in any engineering discipline 
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in leading, managing, coaching and recruiting more junior members in the team
• Experience of defining and promoting opportunities to reuse components and common service patterns, understanding the patterns and interactions on a larger scale across portfolio
• Extensive Experience working in Agile environments, aligned to DevOps culture

Technologies:

• Proven experience with container technology and familiarity with container orchestration and toolchain, such as Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, etc.
• Experience in running and maintaining large-scale production systems over GKE stack
• In-depth knowledge of cloud security best practices
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code toolchains and frameworks, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
• Experience with CI/CD tools
• Experience in scripting and programming, such as Bash, Python, Go, Groovy
• Experience with observability tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK and with a strong analysis skills
• Familiarity with the software development life cycle and secure coding practices to safeguard the integrity and security of our products
• Strong communications skills
• Multi-tasker and a team player who takes ownership and knows how to prioritize efficiently

• Familiar with pub/sub messaging platforms, integration frameworks and workflow orchestration: eg ActiveMQ, SQS, Step Functions, Apache Airflow, Apache Beam etc.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of modular, reusable configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tooling and principles
• Experience setting up build pipelines, automated deployments, etc. with CI/CD tools using GitFlow or a similar scale out workflow strategy
• Experience with automated testing, test-driven development and/or behavior-driven development leveraging the Agile Testing Framework

Location

The successful candidate will be expected to be in the Mt. View office 3 days per week, minimum. Some travel will be required.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $240000 Min - 260000 max annually. Salary is determined by a combination of factors including location, level, relevant experience, and skills. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.  The compensation package for this position may also include equity, and benefits.
