Head of Credit

Landis is a homeownership company taking on the housing affordability crisis. Our mission is to guide people on their unique path to homeownership, and we do this through a coaching app and a holistic homeownership program where we buy a home for a client and rent it to them while we help them prepare for a mortgage. We are growing rapidly and are looking for an experienced mortgage professional to join our team and help our clients achieve their homeownership goals. The role will lead a team of underwriters and credit coaches and will be responsible for guiding our credit and operational strategy, as well as people-managing a growing team.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead a team of underwriters and credit coaches that are responsible for: approving clients, educating clients on how to improve their mortgage qualifications, and managing client relationships and experience
• Set our overall credit guidelines and underwriting standards
• Develop a standardized strategy for credit coaching and development of financial skills and literacy among our clients
• Create internal-facing credit and mortgage training materials to develop broad organization mortgage expertise
• Develop KPIs to track team performance; ensure we are meeting expectations regarding client approval and graduation rates
• Identify new and creative ideas to improve client mortgage qualifications
• Develop and execute on strategies to scale the company and improve our processes and technology
• Drive new initiatives to help improve our customer experience

Experience and Education:

• 8+ years of mortgage experience, including underwriting 
• Strong understanding of FHA, VA, and conventional mortgage guidelines
• Experience leading a team
• Client-facing experience
• Creative problem solving to assist clients towards mortgage eligibility and approval
• Outstanding communication and teamwork skills
• Impeccable organizational skills, tech-savvy
• Bachelor’s Degree
