Head of Data Engineering

We are seeking a Head of Data Engineering to join our rapidly growing global workforce in Chicago. In this role, you will be managing a team of data scientists, database engineers, and administrators across our global workforce taking ownership of our data strategy, architecture, and analytics suite.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with leadership and various Department Heads to identify problems and opportunities for innovation
• Lead developers and partner with data analytics & engineering teams to architect and design business-wide data structure
• Implement business and IT vision through creation of new data engineering strategy to span all data platforms (relational, timeseries, NoSQL etc.)
• Oversee data profiling and analysis to assess data quality patterns, recommend data cleansing rules – conforming data standard rules and matching algorithms
• Implement and enforce database security based upon best practice, industry compliance regulations, and company policies
• Manage a team of high-level technical staff responsible for developing and delivering products and services

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or more advanced degree in Information Technology highly preferred
• Previous Fintech experience preferred
• Expert level experience in database architecture and design
• Experience with replication, high I/O volumes, indexing, and data integrity
• Hands on experience with AWS services
• Proven success managing a team of direct reports
• Prior experience with writing and debugging data pipelines using a distributed data framework (Hadoop/Spark etc.)
• Knowledge of a scientific computing language (Python, Pyspark, SparkSql, SQL)
• 5+ years of experience in SQL, Database Development; experience in Financial Services is preferred
• Experience managing multiple database platforms including MySQL and MS SQL
• Experience with conflict management and identity parameters in replicated environments
• Certification in MCSE: Data Management and Analytics or equivalent preferred
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
