Overall Purpose

The Head of Data Platform Engineering is the lead evangelist and visionary for all things data - from acquisition through management, analysis and utilization. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this leader will be responsible for up-leveling the elements that make decades of bank-contributed data our competitive differentiator.

Essential Functions

  • Lead a high-performance team - provide exceptional leadership in developing highly engaged, high-performance teams to deliver against departmental and company objectives.
  • Be the voice of the data - provide executive stewardship, champion, and implement data management strategies, define data architecture and standards, institutionalize data quality management. Be adept at identifying and presenting enterprise data models and critical data elements and their quality rules.
  • Measure and manage data risk - develop capabilities to measure and predict risk, influence enterprise risk appetite at the executive table.
  • Influence company strategy - enable better analytics for decision-making, help refine company strategy using insight gained from effective and robust analysis of data.
  • Improve the top line - increase revenue, customer approval ratings, customer retention, and market goodwill through the effective governance, acquisition, and use of data in developing innovative solutions.
  • Improve the bottom line - lower the cost of data acquisition and retention, quality, and compliance, improve productivity through availability of timely and correct data across the company.
  • Manage risk effectively - support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data by ensuring system and data confidentiality, integrity, and availability is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Financial services domain knowledge, including expertise at the intersection of compliance, risk, finance, and consumer domains.
  • 10 or more years of related experience including at least 7 years of leadership experience
  • Expertise in business and IT architecture at scale.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Metadata Management (business and IT).
  • Expertise in creating and deploying best practices and methodologies.
  • Expertise with financial industry data models and their large-scale implementations.
  • Expertise with actual data sets and data models required to successfully run an end-to-end business and product line.
  • End-to-end data warehousing program execution knowledge and leadership.
  • Expertise with software development life-cycles.
  • Demonstrated success developing and retaining highly engaged, high performing teams and aligning talent to meet business objectives
  • Background and drug screen.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
