Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader with a proven track record in leading digital transformation. As an established digital leader, you will have the skills to influence at every level, imparting your digital knowledge and skills in a constructive, empowering, and collaborative way.

This position falls within the Global Information Systems (GIS) leadership team reporting to the SVP/Chief Information Officer. This position oversees a global workforce of 100+ IT professionals with locations in global regions including, but not limited to, AMR, EMEA, and APAC. This position will directly contribute to the overall IT strategy and evolve our customer-facing technology teams to support Illumina's plans for strategic growth.

Objectives of this Role

  • Drive digital innovation and serve as a cross-functional change agent across the organization
  • Set and implement digital strategy by working with cross-functional partners to map and transition traditional processes to digital ones
  • Be a digital evangelist, championing the use of digital technology and practices to engender a digital mindset from the top down
  • Ensure collaboration, knowledge sharing, and digital best practices between partners and colleagues to help embed a robust digital ecosystem
  • Measure ROI on digital projects, fine-tuning approaches as needed to ensure we're investing in the right tools and resources

Responsibilities

  • Develop a clearly-defined and compelling digital strategy for the customer experience
  • Ensure that all relevant digital initiatives are fully integrated into the strategic-planning process for leadership commitment, resource allocation and execution
  • Work with teams across the business to generate innovative digital solutions for products, services, processes, customer experiences, marketing channels, and business models
  • Own and centrally monitor the digital innovation project portfolio
  • Build, manage and continue to grow an internal and external digital innovation ecosystem
  • Identifying new tools - AI, digital, field service, CRM - that can support, enhance and improve our solutions
  • Work closely with HR to attract and retain top talent, and to build digital capabilities across the company

Business Application Management

  • Responsible for organizations providing systems administration, maintenance, systems performance optimization for global applications supporting marketing and commercial operations
  • Delivery of high-quality end-user application services for more than 50 global applications
  • Development and harmonization of policies, compliance with SOX, FDA, ISO and other regulatory requirements
  • Drives internal optimization programs for IT, focused on agility, quality and efficiencies

Talent Management

  • Plan organizational structure for a team that supports current global business stakeholder requirements and can evolve to meet future needs
  • A "player-coach" and proven leader/developer of people; capable of recruiting, leading and motivating strong teams

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable success in leading IT modernization and transformation for a technology company of comparable size, with minimal disruption, especially including global Cloud transformations and/or DevOps evolutions
  • Able to drive the strategy and tactical support for high availability (24/7) global business applications
  • Strong vendor management experience in negotiating IT software and services contracts, including Managed Service Providers
  • Strong IT budget management skills in both CapEx and OpEx
  • Experience in compliance with SOX, FDA, ISO and other regulatory requirements
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and integrations
  • Self-directed and able to work with individuals at all levels of the organization, including executive management
  • Ability to analyze and improve upon technology standards across the organization to maintain a technological and competitive edge within the market
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing and highly motivated teams in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills

Skills and Qualifications

  • Min 5-7 years' experience in a similar role designing and launching digital platforms
  • Proven track record of leading successful digital transformation projects
  • Understand core business processes and associated technical solutions
  • Have an innovative and disruptive mindset, constantly looking forward
  • Experience managing and leading a digital team
  • Proven influencing and collaboration skills

Experience/Education:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent; MBA preferred
  • 20+ years of direct IT experience
  • 10+ years of leadership experience working in a highly scalable, matrixed, and global organization
  • 5+ years senior IT management experience having oversight of hardware and software in a hybrid environment, SaaS, On-Premise, PaaS, etc.
  • High-level understanding of related business processes and is able to discuss business goals and objectives aligned with the functions supported

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $260,600 - $390,800. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
