Why You Should Lead the Email Platforms Organization:

Since Klaviyo was founded in 2012, it has successfully sent trillions of emails on behalf of our customers. The services and systems to make this possible were designed and implemented by the Email Platforms organization. This org is focused on ensuring the reliability and scalability of email, surfacing deliverability and engagement data to customers, and preventing platform abuse.
The team of engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers is a supportive and collaborative group that constantly iterates and innovates. This role has significant growth potential as Klaviyo continues to strongly invest in this area.

As the Head of Email Platforms you will report directly to the Sr. Director of Channel Infrastructure, Greg Yu. Areas of ownership include Email Pipeline, Email Deliverability & Compliance, KMTA, and Channel Services as well as the associated infrastructure. In addition to investments into reliability and scalability, this organization also has a major focus on service modernization and forward-looking architecture. 

How You Will Make a Difference 

• Direct the technical and organizational evolution of email messaging at Klaviyo.
• This person will be directly responsible for managing 7+ direct reports across 5 teams including other managers and technical leads.
• Developing SMART goals and career development plans for direct reports. 
• Heavily involved in interviewing, hiring, and leveling up the team around them 
• Working with the team on project planning and defining milestones, identifying dependencies, and meeting business goals.
• Working with stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve blockers, and manage expectations.
• Advising the team on system design and implementation decisions
• Sharing and evangelizing email industry best practices across the entire company
• Iterate and improve upon engineering wide processes like recruiting, performance development, communication, and agile development.
• This role will be hybrid (~2 days/week in-office) at our Headquarters in Boston, MA

Who You Are 

• Successfully led and delivered complex projects spanning multiple quarters and multiple engineering teams.
• Experience overseeing and scaling multi-team organizations.
• An affinity for enabling and guiding architectural discussions and planning.
• Experience coaching and growing engineering managers and technical leads. 
• Experience developing and rolling out organizational and engineering-wide processes. 
• Experience acting as a lead in the email space for multiple years with an understanding of industry best practices.
