Role: Head of Engineering
Description: Blackthorn.io is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead an ever-growing team of developers, engineers and QAs that spans across the globe. Your title will vary by experience. You’ll report to Chris. You’ll get to build some pretty challenging stuff.Â
What you’ll do
- Manage a team of ~50 people and growing across several disciplines, including 3-5 Engineering Managers
- Guide a hiring pipeline that spans across different workforce contract providers and hires remote workers from across the globe
- Set all-Engineering-level goals and standards
- Responsible for guiding the culture of Engineering
- Manage Engineering Managers, the Customer Support team, and the QA and Release team
- Serve as a focal point for cross-team communication, ensuring that the entire company is kept in the loop
- Ensure all Engineering systems (Jira, Codeship, AWS, there are a lot) are up to date and ensure that the team is trained in their use
- Work with the Product team to develop a roadmap and guide the Engineering Managers in its execution
- Identify process bottlenecks and work with the team to solve these problems
- Keep us SOC 2, PCI, and other acronym-compliant
- Oversee security, you’ll be our CISO
What we look for
- Have managed 30+ people with a management tier (we have ~50 now, including Support)
- Know both Salesforce and MEAN stack development (you’re a dev by trade)
- Know caching and large scale enterprise deployment strategies
- Comfortable with AWS
- Ideally have built Salesforce packages at an ISV
- Have led a company through diligence processes related to financings or exits

About Blackthorn
We have two native apps on the Salesforce AppExchange for managing Events and Payments. We’re a growing, distributed team in four countries. We move fast and have significant structure in our product build process. Everyone on our team has deep experience within their respective roles. Our customers span from 1 person companies to Fortune 500s.
Why is our work important
Our apps continue to be easy to use and setup, due to continuous refinements with our UX. Most apps in our space take weeks to implement, ours take hours, and they work more flexibly, achieving significantly more functionality than our competitors. We believe enterprise apps should be as easy to use as consumer mobile apps.
