Head of Engineering

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to drive the technical evolution of a well-established SaaS platform serving a large global user base. In this role, you will lead engineering strategy, organizational transformation, and technical innovation within a rapidly evolving AI-driven market. Working closely with executive leadership, you will help shape scalable systems, modern development practices, and cross-functional collaboration models that empower teams to deliver high-impact outcomes. The position combines strategic thinking, people leadership, and deep technical expertise, offering the chance to influence both product direction and engineering culture. You will play a central role in fostering autonomous, high-performing teams while guiding the adoption of AI-native engineering practices and operational excellence. • Lead the engineering organization through a transformation toward cross-functional, outcome-driven collaboration and distributed ownership
• Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap in partnership with technical leaders and executive stakeholders
• Balance feature delivery, scalability, performance, and long-term technical sustainability, including the reduction of technical debt
• Promote and implement AI-native development practices, tooling, and automation to improve engineering efficiency and productivity
• Collaborate closely with Product and executive leadership to align technical priorities with business objectives and customer value
• Oversee platform scalability, system reliability, security, data privacy compliance, and seamless infrastructure evolution
• Mentor and empower engineering managers, tech leads, and developers to foster autonomy, accountability, and high performance
• Identify operational bottlenecks and improve engineering delivery processes, predictability, and execution velocity
• Support organizational growth by strengthening engineering culture, communication, and collaboration across distributed teams

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading engineering teams within high-scale SaaS or technology-driven environments
• Strong technical credibility across modern web architectures, cloud infrastructure, and scalable systems
• Experience with technologies such as PHP/Laravel, Vue.js, and cloud-based environments is highly valued
• Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and guide teams through transformation and process evolution
• Strong product-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize engineering initiatives based on customer and business impact
• Experience implementing AI-driven tools, workflows, or engineering practices to improve development efficiency and innovation
• Excellent leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills in remote or international team environments
• Strong understanding of software scalability, performance optimization, security, and data privacy standards such as GDPR
• Familiarity with SEO-related technologies, web crawling, indexing, or content analysis is considered a strong advantage
• Fluent English communication skills are required; German language skills are a plus
