Team / division overview

The COO Division is a key enabler for DWS and is integral to the future success of the company by delivering world-class services across a set of key functions. It covers essential Technology and Operations capabilities, including our data programs and digital transformation. The COO aims to deliver a platform which is efficient, scalable, resilient and agile.

Within the COO Division Data Management is responsible for designing and driving the execution of the data strategy at Group and Divisional/functional level as well as coordinating adherence to Data related processes and policies and any applicable local regulations.

Role Details

As the Head of Enterprise Data Management, you will:

  • Act as the 'Product Owner' covering areas including Data Governance and Data Quality Management (DQM), in order to provide direction on Data Management objectives and approach across DWS
  • Lead Data Governance and DQM workstreams as a key deliverable for the execution of the Enterprise Data Management across DWS divisions to deliver to agreed FRB deliverables
  • Lead a team to work collaboratively with the business and technology to conduct analysis and produce detailed project artifacts including requirements documents, data roadmaps and other analysis documentation
  • Support the engagement with relevant regulators in relation to Enterprise Data Management
  • Manage a network of data owners and stewards with appropriate data governance principles
  • Oversee Data Governance and DQM strategy design and implementation by identifying optimal structures, resourcing, governance, reporting and execution
  • Lead the evaluation, selection and implementation of Data Governance and DQM tools and technologies
  • Regularly assess and refine Data Management processes and policies in line with the industry best practice, to promote continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate management expertise and exercise influence to identify, evaluate and recommend potential objectives to support the delivery of data management

We are looking for

  • Proven experience with the implementation of Data Governance, Data Quality and Data Strategy within a global financial services environment
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, principles and best practices e.g., DCAM, DAMA
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Expertise of managing data and processes in a global enterprise environment with an understanding of database and schema design
  • Proven leadership and ability to build and sustain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at a strategic level
  • Knowledge of the global regulatory landscape impacting data management in Financial Services
  • Excellent communication, both in listening and conveying messages to a wide range of stakeholder groups
  • Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop creative and structured solutions

The salary range for this position in New York City is $139,000 to $215,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
